NEWS Payne Haas retracts immediate release from Broncos then

I don't agree with you here @Huge I can't see any of the new guys, Reyno, Capes, TMM, Billy etc thinking this is a good move from Haas. Similarly, I can't see any of the guys who have potentially just signed on or about to sign, thinking that he is doing them any favours. Cobbo, Oates, Herbie, Riki etc.

As far as I know, Haas is already the HIGHEST paid bronco, above our Captain from all reports and he is a Prop.

No one thinks the club is in the wrong here. We signed him on a massive contract after 3 games and a major injury. We've significantly upped his contract of the years....recently too until 2024. It's not like he is in the last year of his contract. We will see 2 new Labour leaders before it's up.

This is all on him. He can go and stew in reserve grade and watch his brother play first grade for the titans for all I care. We should not be giving him a pat on the back out the door unless there is some major major upside for us. Rightly or wrongly, this is the guy we decided we would build our club around. What message does it send if we just let him walk. I'd like to hear what the dressing room thinks, @Wolfie @1910 @Smokin' Joe any insights you can provide?

At the moment I haven't really spoken to anyone I know there. Going to be interesting I think once this Titans game is out of the way.

@Wolfie you won't be able to see this because you have blocked me, but your read on Haas was 100% on the money.

Re the roosters, I would not be surprised if the potential villian is a bit further south, our old nemesis the Storm. Which club is losing a fair percentage of their forward pack and their middle forwards? Which club has the largest amount of TPA's in the comp?

Haas might want to be coached by that genius Bellamy to make him a better player.

Thanks Ningers.

Why wouldn't it happen in AFL? How do they handle contracts?
I don’t follow it that much but I don’t recall a situation where a player mid season agitates for a release because they have hurt feelings about how much they are worth.

even if it happened, afl media is that tight in protecting the game they’d lynch the player anyway

He wants out because he doesn’t have the friends at the club anymore. All of the people that would be pissed have gone elsewhere, the rest want to be here and want to win at the Broncos. It’s not a risk because Haas’ followers are gone.

He wants out because he wants $1 million and Broncos aren't giving it to him.

That as well, but he’s being led by his only friends left. He doesn’t have a following at this club. All his valley mates are playing elsewhere

you know, i'd still negotiate with the Roosters, just make them pay a premium.

I think Walker and Manu in exchange for Haas is fair compensation 😁
Haha I messaged a mate this exact combo

Nailed it👍
Not so straight forward though. We can't just roll over all the savings into future seasons, we have to spent X% of the cap each year. I can't remember what it is off the top of my head, 95% or something.

Then we need to find the right players to spend it on.

It will be very interesting. I think Haas ends up leaving, but HO needs to ensure it's on our terms, when we are ready and when we have the right deals in place.

Honestly I am just sick of supporting our players. I am tired of being excited about our players coming through, buying my membership each year to cheer them on, accepting the mistakes they make because they are learning and then as soon as they get decent the want out in the most disrespectful ways. I mean it is just an assembly line of players that do it and now Haas does this and now apparently Cobbo had been talking to the Roosters so much they thought they had him over the line.

I’m fucking sick of it and pretty sick of this sport if I am being honest.
**** this whiny entitled shit. We are currently poised to enter the top 4, and everyone is wondering what other club’s players we can poach with Payne’s money.

As for the Roosters, they are below us on the table, and don’t have any ex Broncos on their books, other than a kid we fumbled through our own negligence.

We know Selwyn knocked back a raft of offers to sign with us. But we landed him. The club is in great hands.

Get up, you sook.

This situation is now an ideal time for us to show our culture is changing. We seem to have a tram first mentality now and a player asking for a release because he can't get his own way shouldn't be tolerated.

Those who think we shouldn't go after Munster, watch the Manly game.

That's a pure footballer. Exactly what we need. These so called culture issues, there's nothing that supports that theory. Players want to play in a side with him in it.

The club should be benching him to send a message to the rest of the group.
