Player Movements and Rumours 2012

as they should :) Would love to see Mr Lucky Socks on the wing this week!

Week 3, and we're telling a decent contracted player to have the rest of the year off.

Seriously? Maybe after Origin and the year has taken shape?

i for one hope beale plays out the rest of the season on the wing. when he comes infield and hunts for the ball he is dangerous. besides.. i doubt im the only one who remembers gagais debut.

he deserves a shot at #1 and brisbane cannot offer that. but for now i would prefer he sees out the season so we arent leaking excessive tries and putting a target out on the wing. Even though he is slightly vulnerable i dont think the other teams view him as a target because everyone knows the potential.

meh my 2cents probably worth about 0.0058 cents

best of luck to beale. hopefully still has alot to offer us this year but as i've said before i think gagai will make a better winger.

I'm not too fussed either way.

He's not a part of the club's future, and we've got a young guy who is, knocking on the selection door.

Before this news came out, there were a fair few people (I wasn't one of them!) questioning Beale's position on the wing anyway.

Remember though that Hoffman has his share of injury problems. Makes sense to keep Beale around for the year as a backup, because he's a bloody good backup.

Oh yeah, definitely. I wasn't advocating an early release!

His manager was saying just yesterday that no deal had been done and he was happy at through broncos.

i think gagai is a good replacement for him though

When managers say that, you know they are leaving & they have signed already elsewhere.

Disagree mate, Beale has never looked comfortable on the wing, and is a liability there that will be explored by other teams.

I'd keep him for the season as a backup for Hoffa in case of injury, but would send him to Qcup and bring Gagai in, who is a much better prospect for the 3/4 line.

I would find it funny if the Dragons stick with Morris at fullback, and Beale gets a wing spot again.

Well the runour is that the Dragons had all but signed Brett Stewart for next year. So that'll be interesting.

I reckon that since they have signed Beale for next year (has it been confirmed). the Dragons must have decided they he was a quality alternative and will come at a fraction of the cost

He will probably move to the centres like how Hodges did and end up carving up .

What has gagai done to warrant these huge predictions?

This.

So far Beale's performances at NRL level >>>>> Gagai. Gagai is currently carving up in QCup but I think people's expectations of him at this stage are very high.

Agreed.

My view is Beale is a fullback first and foremost, and while Hoffman is fit he won't get a look in. So I don't blame him looking for a more guaranteed start.

As for the rest of this year, judge it on form. Beale's been horrible first 3 weeks, but obviously these contract negotiations have been on his mind. Now that's settled, hopefully he can knuckle down and work hard on his form for the Broncos. If he does that, and can clean up the errors (defence and handling), I don't see why you'd drop him, unless Gagai is really tearing everyone new arseholes in Q Cup.

I certainly don't advocate dropping Beale just for signing elsewhere, and certainly not to release him.

If Beale continues the way he is I wouldn't give it long until I gave Gagai a chance. Beale let in the only try against Parra when he fumbled. He dropped the bomb against the Cows at the crucial stage which gave them the scrum to win, he catches that we pretty much win. He made the elementary defensive mistake by not staying on Uate against the Knights which gave him space to score. AND HE BROKE LOCKYERS CHEEK LAST YEAR! I was happy to persevere knowing the mistakes would be repayed in the future but now he's leaving, we may as well give Gagai a go to get him up to speed in first grade, so that he can start repaying us sooner. The Dragons are the only ones who will benefit from Beale staying in first grade now. Griffin might be waiting a few weeks to drop him to make it look like he dropped hime on form.

AND HE BROKE LOCKYERS CHEEK LAST YEAR! .

I can't see how that incident should be held against him ever. That's footy he was doing his job and unfortunately Locky got his head in the way.
