And well definitely have the cash under the cap. Seriously, if he goes anywhere then it'll be Brisbane or Bulldogs. However, there is absolutely no way they will get both Foran and DCE, and it's almost certain that Foran will be a Doggie in 2013.

I biggest chance of getting DCE is the fact that he's a Queenslander and because we will be able to offer him what he wants. Oh and because he know he will be playing behind the best pack in the comp.

STAR halfback Daly Cherry-Evans has formally asked Manly for a release from his contract.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal Cherry-Evans' manager, Gavin Orr, lodged the request to Sea Eagles chief operating officer David Perry on Friday afternoon.

Manly immediately rejected it but the fight to keep Cherry-Evans has reached a critical stage.

The Daily Telegraph can also reveal Cherry-Evans is on a contract worth an embarrassing $85,000 a year - less than dozens of Toyota Cup players.

His deal will increase to $125,000 for next season - still a pittance given what he achieved last season. He could command anything up to $450,000 a year.

Yep.

I was against signing him for 2013 and basically telling two rookies to hold the fort for somebody coming off their debut season but DCE has taken his game to another level this season and if we'd be crazy not to bring him here ASAP.

It's tough, but both players should be able to understand.

But ****ing do it! Sign DCE. He's a superstar. He will be Queensland and Australian halfback within 3 years. All due respect to Wallace, Norman and Hunt, but DCE is oodles above them. I can see him being a champion of this decade, one of those guys you start comparing to champions of the past like Langer, Stuart, Fittler, Lockyer (though I doubt he'll reach the dizzying heights Locky did, considering Locky had 5 years head start on him).

this is how i feel. i think the broncs would have the best chance of getting him if he did leave manly.

but to be honest, i don't think he will leave. manly will pull their head in due to the fuss created by DCE's manager.

I doubt he'll leave actually. I think he was just pushing the envelope with Manly because he's sitting on 86k a year. Which, might I add is perfectly fair. He signed the contract and now he wants a release because he realised he's better than 86k? Poor form if you ask me.

Agree with this, it would be interesting to know who negotiated his current deal. He obviously has no way of upgrading or get out clause of any type (apart from the goodwill of Manly) so his current form is a surprise to everyone including himself.
