Petero's manager stuffed him up.

I would say he would still be at the club if it wasn't for his manager.

The club promised him a big payday if he turned down the Cowboys for less money for his next deal so he turned them down. We offered him no where near what Penrith offered him for that next deal (which was basically his market value as the game's elite prop) instead we bought Clinton and Sims to replace him! Good work Bruno!!!!!!!!!

Well essentially the Broncos did with Petero what they did with Hannant and Inglis - they put an offer on the table, and basically said take it or leave it. Petero called their bluff...and failed.

It's funny how everyone knows what goes on behind closed doors. I didn't realise all you guys were in on the negotiations.

I think the Broncos failed more than he failed, he got good money to play footy we lost the best prop in the game because our head office people have no common sense.

 They didn't want to blow the budget for a single player. They gambled on getting 2 lesser players for similar money and that didn't turn out well...20-20 hindsight.

Fact is if Petero REALLY wanted to stay then he would've. Ultimately he wanted his pay day and wasn't going to accept anything less. That's his right, but he can't have it both ways - he can't bitch about the Broncos not wanting him when they did.

I reckon Petero got greedy myself. The Broncos offered him $300k a year plus a job after retirement. If that's not looking after a prop in the twilight of his career then I don't know what is.

He got promised a big payday for his next deal and they didn't give him one, considering his service to the club he had every right to be pissed off and find a better offer. The fact we got Clinton on reportedly similar (probably a bit less) money just makes the deal even more sickening.

With what, more under the table payments.

THE WOW Brisbane Broncos and Sam Thaiday have rubbished media claims the Test forward could leave the Broncos when his contract ends in 18 months time.

Unsubstantiated weekend reports said the Broncos' current possibility of signing Storm star Greg Inglis could have ramifications for re-signing Thaiday.

Disappointingly, neither the Broncos nor Thaiday were asked to comment in the story.

Both the Broncos and Thaiday laughed off the rumour today.

"It is just a bit of media talk, a bit of a bash up," Thaiday told Nova this morning.

"Nothing has been said to me.

"For the time being I am not worried about it."

Broncos chief executive Bruno Cullen was about as straightforward and blunt as he could be.

"We would not sign anyone, including Greg Inglis, if it meant jepoardising the hopes of re-signing Sam Thaiday," he said.

great journalism there ... don't even talk to the player or club before printing rumours

If you actually talk to the direct sources you lose your story so I see why they didn't LOLZ!

Not only that, the only direct source they did have was his manager...who said "Sam would like to stay at the Broncos", and then followed with the obligatory "We will listen to all offers".

I can arrange for pinhead cameras if you have access. [icon_wink
Then you could put a live feed on BHQ... [icon_razz1

Anyone worried about Thaiday leaving, I think we can take a bit of comfort from this.

Cullen said Thaiday's future would not be jeopardised by the club's bid to lure Inglis as a replacement for AFL-bound Israel Folau.

"We would not sign anyone, including Greg Inglis, if it meant jeopardising the hopes of re-signing Sam Thaiday," Cullen said
