Brisbane Broncos will not make an offer for Bird despite some interest from coach Ivan Henjak.

Any offer from Brisbane would have been dependent on Joel Clinton's move to Hull KR being finalised this week.

Clinton is understood to have agreed to a two-year deal with Rovers, but is awaiting a work visa to enter the UK.

The Broncos are unlikely to sign a replacement for Clinton at this stage.

"It is a bit late to go into the market and get anyone of any quality," Henjak said. "So we might keep our powder dry until next year."

So the word there is no Bird and no Clinton. saving the money for next year. 25 People are about to post and say they are sick of Brisbane not being serious about the foward back. But me personally im fine with them not signing anyone now. Save the money to extend some of the young fowards contracts after they show how good they are this year!

I was a bit worried about the forwards but we have some good blokes who can play front row Josh McGuire, David Hala, Scott Anderson, Nick Kenny, Ashton Sims, also other guys like Matt Britt coming in. We also have some talent in Mitch Dodds, Dunamis Lui, Kurtis Lingwoodock, plus in our feeder teams we have guys like Tim Natusch, Kris Kahler, Jason Williams, Ben Vaeau if we get into trouble. I think we can get by in 2010 and make a play for some better forwards in 2011. I would like Bird, as much as I hate him I think his aggression would help our forward pack a bit. I am actually really glad we are getting rid of Clinton, 275 a season is pissing it down the drain with him he is no big loss and that money will be much better used on other players. Bring on 2010, I am confident we can get by with a young side, would like a bit more experience but we will still win the comp again haha.

I'm also fine with them not signing anyone now. As Ivan said there is no one of quality on the market ATM so buying anyone at this stage would be a waste of money. Our pack really isn't that bad, they just need someone to stand up as a real leader and a bit more experience - which they will certainly get in 2010

Can anyone confirm a rumour that the Dogs are bringing their home game against the Tits to Suncorp for another double-header? I think its Round 15 which is the Broncs-Panthers game and is two days after Origin 2.

Price would be an awesome addition to a young pack with us. He may be 36 but he is still more effective than 95% of other front rowers, he is just what the broncos need. Hope the rumours are true! As much as I would love Tate back where would we put him? He could prob play in the other centre position but I think if he is there having Israel is a waste of money cos 400k is too much for a winger!!

Id take pricey in a second, he would do wonders for our young guys. I know its only a stop gap solution to a bbigger problem but I feel that price could really help along macguire and few others and be the forwards leader we need.

If we got Price I'd want it to be on a bargain basement packet. He's too old to take up too much of the cap, even for 1 year.

If he wants a final cash grab, go to England.

if its only 1 year, then throw him all of Clintons money. Its not like there going to sign anybody else. Use any of the remaining cap money we have as its pointless not using it if its there to spend! Either no price and (roughly) 275k sitting in the bank for a year doing nothing. Or give the 275k to Price for the year. I know what I would do. Maybe even give pricey 250k and give some of the young future players 5k upgrades to show they are in the managements minds to be a strong part of the future. (Eg McCullough, Hunt, Mcguire, Glenn & Yow Yeh)

He already has a good relationship with some of the players in Lockyer, Hodges, Thaiday, Folau.
