POST GAME [PREMIERS, 2025] Broncos vs Storm

I didn't get that vibe.

He's obviously a Doggies man through and through and also admired what the Panthers have achieved but if you watch the triple m shorts of him and Ginane in the commentary booth these past few weeks he's just a real footy fan. Was jumping around in the box like a kid.

I didn't see any bias.

To me he looked a man who'd loaded up on Melbourne and thought he was home and hosed. Gordie at least clapped though lol.

I wasn't convinced by Melbourne all year. They're Melbourne, I get why the market opened with them and the Panthers as the favourites but I think Melbourne were the favourites all year?

Betting markets are obviously different but even most of the "experts" were saying they were a sure thing...at least until the Panthers decided to get involved and then it became even money. Some really clunky wins and I think a number of their players are living off Origin games and past heroics tbh.
This season was perfectly setup for Melbourne to win it all.

They finished 2 games clear as minor premiers the year before and it was really only Panthers that they just couldn't beat.

But Panthers were losing players again (Luai, JFH, Turuva, etc.), they didnt have a home ground and they were going to Vegas... so a down year was very much on the cards for Penrith and was looking that way until they exploded in about Rd 12

The rest of the top 4 was
- Rorters... lost a heap of players and was looking like a rebuild year (JWH, Keary, Manu, Suaalii, etc.)
- Sharks... pretenders anyway

Broncos had finished 12th and were potentially needing 12 months under Madge before we'd see them at their best.

Other than that it was bunnies under Wayne (but they got hit with injuries again) and a building dogs team (but probably still a couple years off). Raiders popped up out of nowhere as a genuine threat, but to start the year the bookies had them for the spoon.

Meanwhile storm picked up players like Stefano and were looking stronger than the team that won the minor premiership... so they were the clear favourites to start the year, and when you have Bellamy as coach who's one of the best at managing his squad through the year to get them into the finals in good shape.

For them to have fumbled the comp this year is pretty insane.

They just couldn't get it together and play consistently or to their normal ruthless nature at basically any point across the year.

This one will hurt Bellamy... it was all there on a platter for them and they looked pretty poor across the year based on their normal standards.

****ing great to see and long may it continue

The only downside to Sunday night was how difficult it was to celebrate afterwards. The Homebush precinct is an entertainment and transport wasteland - combined that alcohol service at the stadium cuts off early. With how long it takes to get back to the city it's a bit of a mood killer.

Suncorp or Allianz need to be in contention to host a GF. At least they're right in the middle of somewhere.

Agree. We ended up getting a bahn mi at the precinct because we couldn't find the bus stop we needed then after waiting an hour for uber after 6 cancelled trips, the *****, we had come all the way down.

The board has approved buying a ring for all of the top 30.

Those not in the reserves will just have a ring without number and name. Will be really special for them too.
That's what I love to hear. I have no doubt Madge and Reynolds fought for that. How many players did we rotate through during the season? Definitely some of the boys more deserving than others, but still.

Agreed... I was ready to compete with Bgoat on drinking every beer in Sydney, but it took like 2hr to get back to the city and motivation was dying by that point

Momentarily throughout the day I stop and think about how with seconds left on the clock Munster turns the ball back on the inside for a big dumb forward, after Hughes laid down trying to milk a penalty being down by 4 allowing us to reset our defensive line instead of a quick play the ball.

They really bottled it.

I remember when I was there in ‘23, catching the train and the announcer was reminding everyone that last train is at midnight departing Olympic Park. On Grand final night. Just unbelievable. You would think they would firstly put some money into the bars and restaurants there and then allow trains to go on later. Catching an uber is a nightmare so you’re then stuck after the game, waiting in the long line for the trains back to the city and by the time you get there, you’re practically sober lol Ridiculous.

Except for that one kick out on the full, Reno’s kicking game was immaculate

He doesn’t get enough credit for it.

I think he did hurt himself a bit. It was an awkward tackle, and he didn't play an part of the following play.
