Queensland Bulls 2016/2017

Bulls 437

Lead 287

Wildermuth 110- 100 number two and his highest score for Queensland.

Haven't watched any of him apart from in the BBL, but it looks like Wildermuth is ticking all the boxes.. scoring runs regularly and taking wickets regularly. How does he look live? @1910

Edit: Nevermind, just looked up his game log, he actually hasn't been performing that consistently at all, his last game and this game are really his only 2 good overall performances.

He's got three 50's and two 100's from 18 games for Queensland and 47 wickets- that's pretty positive for an all rounder.

It's the upward trajectory that is interesting- 2 games, 8 games and this year 8 with possibly another three.

Runs- 105, 270, 501.

Wickets- 5, 25 and 17 with games in hand. If he can get those wickets up to high 20's in the rest of the season and runs upwards from 500. That's a handy all rounder for Queensland who is improving.

He's already scored more first class runs this season than Mitch Marsh.

Tas 115

Bulls innings and 172 run win.

Burns seven catches equal the most in a game.

Bulls 1.96 bonus points plus the six for an outright win sees them go to second. Bulls play Victoria next week at AB and Victoria could already have hosting rights for the final so won't have much to play for.

Tasmania have really gone down in recent years. They have only won 1 game this year and they've been at the bottom or near to for the last few years. I remember them winning the shield and producing some very good players over the years.

Hard to top Coyle, three Shields and two One Day comps in his time from 05-13.

They've lost their way; sacked Marsh a couple of weeks ago and now have to start again.

Would this be a fair reflection of the best current Shield team (not including the current test squad):

1. Burns
2. Cowan (Need an opener even though he bats at three now)
3. Fergusen
4. Patterson
5. Turner
6. Lehmann
7. Nevill
8. Mackin
9. Behrendorff
10. Sayers
11. Zampa / Holland

Out of those, who should be considered for the next test series?

I'd be considering Lehmann, Patterson, Burns, Turner and Sayers + Cummins.

SHEFFIELD SHIELD FINAL SCENARIOS
(The below scenarios are estimates only and are subject to bonus points)
What Victoria need to do
Nothing! They're guaranteed a spot in the final and with a lead of 9.5 points, have all but secured hosting rights as well. A win in Brisbane in the last round would lock in a 'home' final in Alice Springs.
What NSW need to do
Beat Western Australia in Perth and hope that, even if Queensland and South Australia win, the chasing pack don't earn more than 2.56 bonus points.
What Queensland need to do
Beat Victoria in Brisbane and hope that NSW and South Australia don't win. If NSW don't win but South Australia do win, Queensland need to secure no more than 0.45 less bonus points than the Redbacks.
What South Australia need to do
Beat Tasmania in Hobart and hope that NSW and Queensland don't win. If NSW don't win but Queensland do win, South Australia need to secure more bonus points than the Bulls.
What Western Australia need to do
Beat NSW in Perth (and earn 0.36 bonus points more than the Blues) and hope that Queensland and South Australia don't win.
What Tasmania need to do
Play for pride and look forward to next season.

Chris Hartley has announced his retirement.

Like the player he took over from (Secombe) he was definitely overlooked at times when he was the best option available. Ironically, Pearson (who should take Hartley's place) is probably more likely to gain international honours due to his batting being viewed as superior to both despite not being anywhere near as good as a keeper.

I like the way Pierson bats and he seems like a cool guy BUT his keeping is Wade-like at present. He needs to do a lot of work on that aspect of his game.

Chris Desmond will take some replacing.
