Queensland Cup 2012 Discussion

Hoffman will be playing centre for Redcliffe today, be interesting to see how he goes.

I get the feeling he'll have a blinder..

Great to see Joe Bond stays at fullback and Mitch Rivett goes back to reserve grade!!!

See you out there I assume ethos?

Hearing you'll have a few inclusions in the forwards as well.. it'll be a pretty good looking Reddy team on paper.

But yeah, I'll be there.

What did you make of the Phins yesterday Ethos? How do we stack up against some of the teams the Tigers have played in the last month or so?

Also interested in your thoughts on Zac Strasser - I think he played a bit nervously at times yesterday but I think he is going to develop into a very handy NRL quality player

Yes played left centre. I'll post the highlights up when they're available but he was a massive handful for the Tigers defence. Scored a try and had a hand in at least 3 others plus a few line breaks. He looked like he really enjoyed himself out there too which will do him huge favors for his confidence IMO.

He is not everyone's favourite around these parts but a fairly big signing for the Mackay Cutter's next season, they have picked up Joel Clinton

Glad to see him back in Australia!

I know most BHQ'ers weren't fans, but I always loved his aggressive style - how he ran full pelt at the defence whenever taking a hit up. His first season wasn't great, but I thought he really started to establish himself in his second year at the Broncos and then we just cut him loose.

Is there a chance we'll see him fill in for the Cowboys from time to time?

Clinton wouldn't have been so bad if we didn't pay him a marquee contract instead of signing Bulla.

As it was, he was being stood up by a prop partner on half the amount of him.

But yeah, people seem to forget that Clinton was consistently one of our best for the first two thirds of the season. I remember a game he had against Parramatta where he just about carried us to victory.

Yeah, silly him, can't help getting knocked out when he clashes heads with another fella at full steam.

Best and most complete team in the comp by a fair margin at the moment. Pack is as tough as nails, halves are smart and the backline is dangerous from anywhere on the field - more speed, acceleration and footwork than any other side. Going to take something special to stop Reddy from taking out the premiership. Wynnum could do it but they need to pick up their form. (Hopefully I've now jinxed you guys.. haha).

Thought Easts did well to hold their own though, Reddy only pulled away in the final 15 or so. Without playing the injury card too much.. the Tigers are missing a bit of starch in the pack, would have been interesting to see what the likes of Mitch Garbutt, Ken Bromwich and even Steve Thorpe would have added up the middle.

Fair to say Hoffman was basically the difference. Made breaks from nowhere. Reckon centre might be his best spot long term..

And Strasser definitely looks like a prospect. You would have watched more of him than me, I've only seen him in those two QCup games. But he carries himself well around the field, big frame for a young bloke too, and not afraid to take on the line. All good attributes.

who is the resident expert in all things QCup around these parts these days ?

this week is the last week of the local comp ... anybody care to give an analysis of the games this week ... who they think will win and where the best "upsets" might be ?

I'm sorta in a position where I need to attack on the QRL website tipping comp

Any help would be most appreciated !

Oink !

My tipping has been terrible of late, wouldn't want to give any bad advice.. haha.

Will be a fair few fringe Broncos blokes in action for Norths in the TV game this Sunday. Lachlan Maranta, Scott Anderson, Kurt Baptiste, Brendon Gibb, Jarrod Wallace and more than likely Dunamis Lui as well.
