Q-CUP Queensland Cup 2023

That was beautiful from Wynnum- Hoeter was on the left, as the scrum packs he comes over to the scrum and then takes off to the right-hand side, Mariner has the ball and he gives a nice inside ball to Hoeter to score.

No chance Mariner throws a pass for a try before now.

It's starting to sound like he's the better prospect out of him and Willison.

After losing Flegler and possible losing Haas, we surely need to make sure the future prospects are locked down with pathways to first grade opening up

Willison is still a prospect but his significant injuries are either going to A. Stunt what he will become but could still end up decent or B. Mean he won’t get there.

The potential he showed when he first came down was exciting.

How long before Kini debuts?

Dangerous every time yesterday and ended up with 213m- few errors but a 19 year old fullback will do that. He has given everything a crack in his Cup time.

Is he with the Titans? He'll find it hard to get a game behind Brimson and Campbell.

Got promoted to top 30 and signed until 2025 pretty soon after I think the Titans v Broncos trial. Definitely going to have to move one to 5/8 eventually. Brimson being ideal I would say.

If so, where do you think that leaves Weaver? Could you shift Brimson to centre?

Brimson will be out for a while with his hammy. If Foran and Brimson are out they may hold him back.

But he's certainly made the jump from schoolboys and Meninga.

God knows, if Foran is still injured from the weekend though, Weaver is a chance to play this week and he's been killing it in QCUP from what I hear.

I could definitely see Brimson moving to centre going forward too. The issue will be Brimson is such a good defensive FB as he showed on the weekend, whereas Campbell and I'm assuming Kini need a bit of time to get up to speed there. Thank god it isn't my job as I haven't a clue howe we deal with that to be honest. It's hard enough trying to fit JC in.

The Gold Coast will have to make a decision on Brimson & Campbell. It's like Drinkwater/Tabuai-Fidow or Papenhuyzen/Drinkwater - you can't have two NRL fullbacks on your roster. When fit, Brimson is the better player but that appears to be a huge asterix at this stage. I'm still not 100% convinced on Jayden yet either but at least he's relatively healthy and has improvement in him.

I don't think it's a decision they'll rush into. Kini will be blooded on the wing at some point (which is why I think Jojo has been pushed into the centres) and they'll assess everything in 2024.

Long term Kini is definitely a fullback and easily one of the best schoolboy players to come through since Ponga.

He's actually impressed me more than Ponga in the lower grades. Ponga in the lower grades wasn't too different to Ponga now where he could go missing. Even in the trials, you couldn't miss Kini.

Weaver has been great; he's starting to kick teams to death just like he did in Alf and Meninga.

He's just tightening the screws. The pass for Kaleb Ngamanu last game was great vision and passing.

His combination with Brimson and McGrady has been great to watch evolve. He's working well with his spine which is a good sign for a half.

I'd love it if we went after Weaver, Titans have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to young spine players atm.

Ponga was the most impressive GPS back I'd seen since Lynagh.

As soon as you saw Ponga play for Churchie, you knew he had the world at his feet. He's done well considering he had that brain infection early on in his career.

Tell ya what if a club wanted a project Fineanganofo from the Clydesdales. The way he has been destroying teams down the left side is like watching a tank roll through a small village.

Six games
Two tries
6 try assists- three on Saturday night. One a game from centre is unbelievable.
36 tackle breaks.

The last three weeks have been- 193m, 173m, 166m.

Watson now has nine tries and leads Cup just by staying outside him.

He's the 23 edition of Te Whare.

Being a Kiwi i wonder if the Warriors might have a look.

He played 35 games NYC for them. I was thinking Dolphins too. Not sure of their link but John Fineanganofo just dominated Meninga for Dolphins.
