Re: Queenslander's passion for sport

When they eventually arrived off ebay...

And that doesn't mean giving away two tickets for one deals.

Or the "buy a jersey, get a ticket to the game" deal they had a few years ago

Imagine if ticket prices in Sydney were the same as Suncorp Origin games. Pretty sure the nightlife on Wednesday night would suddenly improve massively! [icon_lol1.

They are?

I have not been able to get a friggin Origin ticket for Suncorp under $100 in the last 3 years.
In Sydney, it's easy to get one for $60 weeks after they're released...

I got category 3 tickets to the game last week and paid $95. I think only the restricted view seats are cheaper than that.

Mine were $125 a pop...

I think the cheapest seats in Sydney are cheaper than the cheapest seats in Brisbane, but the most expensive seats are more expensive. That sounds confusing, but I think it makes sense....

but considering you get 2 for the price of 1 in Sydney, then technically none of them are cheaper.

Makes sense. The highs are higher, the lows are just much lower.

I love my outings with friends or family, but unless I'm tied up (which I've been this season with my son playing most of his games at the same time as the Broncs), I plan them in a way they don't clash with the Broncos games that I can attend. Well, at least that's what I would expect from a supporter, but I guess that's too much to ask from NSW'kers, as it would require a functioning brain... [icon_shru

Well like I said, I think the culture is different - generally in Sydney, a bunch of 20 yr olds will rather do something else on a Fri night then go to the footy is what I'm saying. Saturday night even less I'd say. Hence they are probably losing significant numbers there --> However they are more inclined to go to the Sunday arvo game! That I'm 99% sure. So the mentality IS probably different - like you said... what you'd expect from a supporter. Honestly - Fri night, only game worth going in Sydney IMO is Aussie stadium. The Sunday arvo games are waaaaaaaay better, I honestly reckon that has a lot to do with it as well.

Furthermore - few years ago when we had BIG matches such as Dogs vs Roosters sort of thing, the atmosphere was electric and what not. Ever since those teams went shite and it was basically the Storm for about 3-4 years... league sorta died. I have to say, the success of the Roosters/Dogs definitely creates hype around the Sydney area. (Eels and Dragons also.)

And some new clubs opened. Nightlife is so much better now.

Say what now? Bulldogs, Roosters, Dragons and Eels crowds are better now than they were back in 2003-2005. In fact, the only Sydney teams which haven't really increased their crowd numbers since then are Penrith and Manly. Even the Sharks have had a few good odd years.

The success of the Dragons, Dogs and Eels in 2009-2010 created some REAL hype, more than that of what the Dogs and Chooks created from 2002-2004.

Fair enough - well the success of the Dragons has definitely brought a bit back - maybe it was cause I was a high school at the time, but the Dogs/Roosters in 02 had real big hype back then. The Dogs/Eels definitely created some hype. I guess what I'm trying to say is when those teams do well the crowds do gather... (obviously) where as Brisbane has always been relatively successful... I mean they've NEVER really been in the pits like the above clubs.

Less than 2000 tickets remaining for the game. Not a bad effort from Sydney.
