I wouldn't mind actually if Joey coached our halves .... but on point, Is Craig Bellamy a professional when during his pressers, he calls Rylie Jacks "Jacksy" or Ryan Papenhuyzen "Paps"? Or when he says of Munster: "he done his knee"?
Let's draw a line here and just admit NRL coaches are what they are and what they are are football coaches and not English grammarians, as much as the Ozzie vernacular is just that. We all do it whether we are the PM or a BHQ poster.
Easy there, rnabokov-y.
OK holdz-o
Always meant to ask you mate, is your name a reference to the author?
Yes .... Long strange story. Did my English Lit. thesis on him during which I discovered he and I shared an interest in butterflies of all things (he was a published expert), as well as tennis and boxing (he taught both), so, I decided it would be a good idea to use "rnabokov" as a username for my first internet account 20 years ago. So I continued with it when I joined BHQ back in about 2004.
Sorry but nah, the amount of drugs he's done and been caught with I'm not buying any of his whitewash.I've nearly finished Johns' Two of Me book - he seems to pride himself on his professionalism throughout, as it relates to on field obviously.

The way his selection as immortal status was rushed through has also tarnished the ridgey didge status of the true greats that came before him.BuT He'S tHe ChOsEn OnE!
The immortal status around that time became one of the monkeys with symbols that the media and NRL started using. It became hype. To think they had to retroactively install 5 players all who came before Johns just shows how much they wanted to take advantage of his profile, rather than his skills. The way his selection as immortal status was rushed through has also tarnished the ridgey didge status of the true greats that came before him.
I think he was also inducted at that time due to just how poorly NSW was doing in Origin. They had lost 7 straight and everything was looking grim so they helped themselves to an undeserved immortalisation as a sop.The immortal status around that time became one of the monkeys with symbols that the media and NRL started using. Oh, absolutely. They needed a figurehead or beacon (even such a tarnished one as Johns). But like JedHead said, they damaged the award itself. But to be honest, the NRL is often damaging the sport as a whole for the sake of a buck.I think he was also inducted at that time due to just how poorly NSW was doing in Origin. Added to this his unforgivable racial slur caught in public which suggests away from the public eye/ear he is even worse. Then his horrendous treatment of the women at Townsville airport and you have to ask how he has managed to remain such a public figure. He's an absolute flog and it was so sweet seeing Jamie Goddard putting him in his rightful place.I think he was also inducted at that time due to just how poorly NSW was doing in Origin.
