Its very possible we could easily end up losing at least 4 players on top of Thiaday retiring. A fair few of our out of contract boys have good offers elsewhere.

Sua and Oates are the big two for me and its all about their pathways at the Broncos. If Gillett and Glenn stay fit and stay here, they block his path and Sua is an 80 minute player. I think he will go for the game time. Oates doesnt really want to play wing, so if he is offered a pathway to play back row i think he will be off as well. Out of some of the others, Lodge is 50/50, i see sims and Tagatese leaving, i think TPJ will sign, Pearson i'm not sure we will keep, Opacic has 4 decent offers on the table and Issako i'm not sure if he has anything concrete. Beyond them, i think we have the likes of Dargan, Mago, Seve and Turpin who will probably get another contract. I dont see Funaki or Nona or Pangai being here next year.

I suppose they have to balance keeping some of the young forwards happy and balancing the salary cap. Blokes like TPJ, Haas, Fifita arent going to be cheap to keep on our books. I'm hoping we can at least keep Sua and Oates even if we lose Lodge.

Ugh. Makes you sick thinking how much money is wasted on Boyd and Bird in the form they are in. Gillett already seems to be taking the cautious approach with his return which is fair enough but is he going to more hesitant in the way he plays for the rest of his career.

Already have Boyd catting it, don't need to be carrying more dead wood and letting our future slip away.

Essentially this is what it may well boil down to, though we are likely to keep 2 (maybe 3 if lucky) of that second group.

The Issue we have is i dont see us as a side who will throw quite a few of these kids in to find their feet. I dont think anyone, fans or the people running the club would accept a couple of seasons of not being a big player in the NRL. I also dont think we have a core of good, solid leaders around to help them. We have very few players who i think are captain material.

Problem these days is a lot of clubs are happy to throw huge amounts of money to kids who while they have potential, are still pretty unproven. Its hard to turn down big money.
