Round 1 2014

Here's the issue though, Splinter. Do we then play Cullen out of position as a back up Hooker to give Macca a breather, ala Ben Hunt, or do we give a more natural Hooker in Granville a go? If Cullen is in the team, do you play him at Halfback and move Hunt.

I'm just saying I'd hate to play him out of position for the next few years just to accommodate him in the team. It's done a real number on Ben Hunt.
Cullen was playing as backup hooker in U20s and much better there than when he played halfback. Granville is not a more natural hooker from what I have seen, he is just a runner

Am I the only one who likes Glenn at centre?

1. Barba
2. Hoffman
3. Reed
4. Glenn
5. Oates
6. Milford
7. Hunt
8. Hannant
9. McCullough
10. McGuire
11. Thaiday
12. Gillet
13. Parker

14. Granville
15. Hala
16. Kennedy
17. Stagg/Anderson/Tasi (if contracted) etc...

This is our strongest side going into next year IMO
I don't think Kahu or Yow Yeh will ever be able to run at full flight again
Copley isn't good enough to make the above team

Hodges to replace Glenn at centre when he returns with Glenn returning to the bench!

I agree, cullun would be a good option at 14 not a X Factor type but a solid playmaker type and is pretty quick . Granville didn't impress at all today

I do like Glenn at centre but prefer to have a 3 way second row rotation of Glenn, Thaiday and Gillet instead of flogging them to death

Besides, I think Copley is a better centre than Glenn!

Speaking of flogging , just heard Luke Lewis post match say" Flano wanted me to play for 30 mins then he would pull me off", well I suppose they new something to replace the peptides.

1 Ben Barba
2 Josh Hoffman
3 Jack Reed
4 Justin Hodges
5 Jharal Yow Yeh
6 Anthony Milford
7 Ben Hunt
8 Ben Hannant
9 McCullough
10 Sam Thaiday
11 Alex Glenn
12 Matt Gillett
13 Corey Parker

14 Jake Granville
15 Josh Mcguire
16 Martin Kennedy
17 Corey Oates

As a Front Rower, Sam Thaiday makes a hell of a Winger.

1. Hofmann 2. see " 3. Reed 4. Copley/Hodges 5. Kahu/oates yow yeah if fit" 6. Barba 7. Hunt 8. Hannant 9. Mecca 10. Moose 11. Gillett 12. Glenn 13. Parker 14. Granville/Baptiste 15. Kennedy 16. Thaiday 17. Oates/Stagg/Dodds/hala*. *. In that order with Stagg and Dodds being equal ". Kahu and Oates dependant on form, yow yeh fitness If we get Milford then barba to full back with Hoffman to 3 and Milford to 6

We could potentially put Glenn in the centres and that way fit another forward on the bench but I don't know if he is better than Copley at centre

I liked Thaiday. He has for mine genuine ball playing skills, and can run good lines.

Once upon a time.

Thaiday is overweight. He is a liability. He is a disgrace to the Broncos fitness and conditioning team. He is IMO one of the easiest forwards to tackle. He rarely breaks through the advantage line. He has no serious strength or power in his running.

For that reason alone, playing him at prop is a MASSIVE MISTAKE

For example, Lama Tasi is 189cms tall and weighs 106kgs
McGuire is 180cms and weighs 107 kgs
Hannant is 184cms tall weighing 107 kgs
Kennedy weighs 118kgs but at least he is 191cms tall

Corey Parker - 188cms tall and around 102kgs - we know how many metres he makes. Strength, power and determination

Thaiday is 181cms and weighs 112kgs. He needs to be around 106kgs max. 106kgs of muscle, not blubber

Only then will he be able to play as the damaging, wide running back rower he once was, and should be.

IMO, if form (which includes fitness) is a selection criterion, if he doesn't make a proper playing weight based on lean muscle, he ought to be on the bench at best, QCup otherwise.

I'd prefer him in the back row. I'd like some quick (surely Copley and Kahu are quicker?) or natural centres (Hodges).

I agree 100%

At the same time, we are fortunate he can play really well in the centres when needed

If Lama Tasi is 106kgs, I'll eat my hat. Likewise Parker at 102kgs. Tasi would easily be 115kgs and Parker would be closer to 110kgs.

Yeah, surely Tasi and Parker are heavier than that.

Moose is heavier and shorter than hannant? Thaiday was much fatter when he was in that awesome form th problem is he is asked to play 60+ minutes

Watmough is less than 100 kilos and he's an excellent middle third runner these days.
