To do that he has to have more then 3 runs a game! But hopefully a big crowd this weekend and if he gets picked there he shows what he has to offer there and makes us fans happy
 
who really knows anymore. each week we keep putting in substandard performances but manage to eke out a win.

normally youd be happy enough with that but our luck is going to run out soon unless we improve.

His fitness is the biggest issue at the minute. Wouldn't cut it in the middle currently, but then his slowness and lack of agility has been exposed out wide.

Tough one. But unless I've missed something, have seen nothing to suggest he's got good dummy half play in him. Ideally, Nikorima would have nailed the halfback role and then Bird could have been a utility / fringe backrower off the bench.

Can't see him playing lock any time soon either. Too high a workrate these days. Unless Brisbane completely change the role of their lock.

I believe that was the whole idea of having Bird at lock in the first place, we werent going to play him like the majority of locks are playing today.
 
Moving TPJ from lock to accommodate Bird is a move that's not going to work out well.

Even if the Broncos re-invent the lock role, he is still not going to be able to get away with not tackling. His workrate will still be high, and with his current fitness level, it's just not going to work.

Its something he is going to have grow into if its going to work, but they would know this anyway. Whether he is going to have to live with maybe coming off the bench in that role for a while or getting taken off remains to be seen. IF he cant adapt i just dont see any other role for him here currently.

TPJ will play the same way wherever he is put imo.

TPJ is only making 22 tackles a game. What's stopping Bird from playing lock and we keep the same defensive structure that allows TPJ to get away with not making a million tackles?
 
So...the Broncs had Arrow, McGuire, Carrigan and TPJ all capable of playing lock and all fantastic at it (McGuire in an old school way) and so they go and buy Bird who costs more, is unfit and is unproven IN THAT POSITION to play lock? Like, who thought this was a good idea?

When you think about this, cannot blame Oates really if he cracks it for not being given a raise and a shot as his preferred position of backrow in light of this awful recruitment decision.
