PRE-GAME Round 10 - Sea Eagles vs Broncos

You're probably on the money there, was just thinking Bennett might reward Offa with a starting spot for the last couple of weeks. He has gone alright lately.

He has I agree, but if Thaiday has any use to this team, it’s copping the early hits from the opposition forwards when they’re fresh, so someone better can come on and actually do something useful for the team...

The game to wipe out the -ve deferential and enter the +ve side on the ladder. Don't want to say we win by so many points but FFS, win convincingly! Bring back the Broncos MAGIC!

Where the hell is mcguire in your team?

This is for this week. McGuire goes to prop above Offa when fit and Gillo goes to second row when fit. Presuming Kahu fit this week if not Isaako cause need a goal kicker.

See the point but why play someone who offers so little? Guy WAS a broncos legend but plenty of those have been unceremoniously dropped by Bennett in past. What is different now?

Sorry mate, saw the bit about the premiership in the next 2 years and thought u were talking about the best lineup in that time.
I think our forward pack is pretty good- lots of guys capable of running for big meters, bit of X factor with TPJ at lock. We just seem clueless sometimes in attack and I agree that we need someone to play 7 to steer us roubd the park and work to a game plan to allow Milford to focus more on running and looking for offloads from the fowards like he did with Blair a lot in 2015, same issue with bird- he would do a good job at 6 If he has an organiser as his halves partner.

This is going to be a very tough game for us. Manly always seem to come hard at Brookvale North. If our forwards keep keeping on, we'll get there but I reckon it will be another close one.

57% possession and 63% territory like they had against Cant usually converts to a lopsided scoreline. Many of their matches have produced similar stats but they are struggling to find the tryline. They look clueless in the opposition red zone and until they start converting their numerous chances, each game will be a lottery.

Exactly the same was said of Reed but now Reed is considered a huge loss.
Having players who are like backrowers in the centres seems to be something WB really loves. Sometimes they are the best available option so I'm not critcising it but they seem to be the best available option far too often for my liking. When was the last time Melbourne did that, if ever?

Precisely. He runs hard, gets smashed but still makes metres, makes plenty of tackles, not many mistakes and then he is off. Not a problem at all IMO. If Boyd were a front rower doing that, I wouldn't have a problem with Boyd in the team either. As a matter of fact, if it were me I would keep Thaiday for an extra year and let Boyd go but that ship has already sailed.

Even thought Wayne mentioned Roberts has become a very efficient all-rounder since joining the Broncos, I still really want him to come in for a few carries out of dummy half. I know he does a lot of work getting out of our own end but even if he takes one or two runs per half off a quick play the ball I reckon he'd be even more lethal. His strength alone could see him bust through tired markers, then there's his speed. He should watch some Hodgo highlights.

Issue is Thaiday doesn’t make meters or get on top. He doesn’t add anything that a young bloke wouldn’t just slower. Can understand using him while have McGuire and Gillo out as well as first choice young bloke but he needs to be used as a backup player, not many clubs Thaiday would have him in first 17. Not sure if English clubs would want him based on recent form.

I agree that at full strength Thaiday may have trouble making the first grade team but it's not often all the first choice fowards are available. I don't mean to present myself as "a fan" of Thaiday, just IMO he has a very simple job to do and isn't too bad at carrying that out. I think there are much bigger issues than Thaiday.

They kept using Tohu Harris in the centres murdering my fantasy team constantly
They used him as a first choice centre on a regular basis? I recall the guy who used to play in the long sleeves and then Scott.

Yes and no to bigger issues. Problem is with fit full compliment we have used Thaiday so far this year. Thaiday in himself don’t see as biggest problem but it is a symptom of biggest issue of picking players not fit for purpose and no matter how poorly they played or the attitude shown on the field.

That's true. Look no further than the captain.

Dunno, Wayne doesn’t feel like he should be dropped is I guess the actual answer to that question, but WHY Wayne feels that way I cannot answer. I have no doubt he is fully aware of Thaiday’s continual drop in output.

Perhaps it is as simple as Wayne likes experience in his pack and no-one in the club is as experienced as Thaiday, so in Wayne’s view, this year he is irreplaceable.
