To me it seemed like the side played like a complete rabble until Marshall decided to stand up and be counted, and take a lot more control which, unless I am missing something, seemed to coincide more than less when Kodi came on. Kodi just has to start at hooker after what he has achieved over the last 6 weeks while Origin takes its toll. Waddell was utter wasted space.

Hunt seemed lost after being out for so long and with Milford, Macca and Boyd out which I can understand. His kick for Roberts was class. I think Hunt will come good with another few games under his belt.

Ball control and discipline need a lot of work.

Draw is rigged. We have byes prior to the next 2 origins but in the three games where we back up after origin we play Roosters, Rabbits and Knights all away from home. Tonight's game takes the cake though, playing a full strength Warriors in NZ with our Origin players out. All teams should just have a bye prior to each origin

This is why I'm always so negative about origin. The rubbish losses we have to cop because of it is just not worth it.

Yes some players were poor, but I'm not going to bag them. Winning with 7 players down is going to be a near impossible task.

Yep and the space to play Origin is already there.

1 week is shut down for rep week and 2 byes. why not have all teams get the bye at the same time and play Origin on a weekend.
We already have to go without watching our teams twice so just get it over with and we can all concentrate on Origin with as little disruption to our teams and the comp as possible.

Press Conference Summary

No excuses tonight, the reality is the Broncos have to get used to playing without their Origin players for two months. Wayne was confident in the team he selected to get the job done but it just didn't happen. He thought a couple of individuals played well, but as a team they just couldn't gel, committing too many errors and being too loose in defence.

Su'A - 8 runs, 66 metres, 30 tackles, 3 missed - "Shit, not first grade standard, get rid of him, back to QCUP"
Blair - 7 runs, 56 metres, 34 tackles, 4 missed - No comments available
Blair doesn't normally get huge metres and stats don't always tell the full story. He is one of our percenters guys. That break from Klokstad from the bomb, guess who was the one who made him cut in and get tackled ?

Bunji did enough for me to favour a Kodi / Bunj halves combo .
Hunt needs to talk to the sports psychologist some more . Kid tries hard but, lapses in concentration .

Agree 100%. Origin is the game's biggest cash cow - it supersedes the NRL competition because Origin pays the bills - kick off times that are 40 minutes late and 22 minute half time breaks and all that jazz... It's a disgrace.

Why the NRL is not suspended for the Origin period is a joke. Surely they see the damage this is doing to the game? It's not like it's quality rugby league. Tonight's game was a disgrace, so was last nights and I daresay tomorrow's will be.

They won't get away with it forever - like delayed Sunday games - it will change eventually but it's cold comfort.

Broncos, Cowboys, Roosters etc just have to bend over, hike their skirts up and pray it doesn't hurt too much in the mean time.

let's all protest and not watch the origin... it's the only way to get the ratings down and get the NRL's attention. seriously...

This is just one of those games you have to take on the chin, when you support the broncos. Sometimes the "baby" broncos will win these but its rare. On the bright side, the younger players got a big taste of what the NRL is about, and Wayne will know a bit more about their strengths and weaknesses. In particular he'll know which players he can rely on under pressure and when the stakes are against them.
Should we have to take these losses: hell no! But whinging about things that haven't and won't change gets you very little. Think of it as small dark lining on the silver cloud of supporting the greatest club in the NRL.

A star showing from Shaun Johnson led the Warriors back to winning ways with a 28-10 victory over the Brisbane Broncos on Saturday night in Auckland.

With their mercurial No.7 back to his best, laying on a pair of first-half assists in addition to scoring one himself, everything seemed to follow suit for the embattled Kiwi club as they halted a two-game losing streak to win their fifth match of the year.

While the final scoreline probably flattered coach Stephen Kearney's side, the Warriors did enough to get the job done and will celebrate holding a team to 10 points or less for just the second time in almost 12 months.

Without seven frontline players due to State of Origin commitments or injury, the Broncos also did themselves few favours through the 80 minutes.

Dogged by poor ball control, which saw them complete less than 60 per cent of their sets, Brisbane fired few shots outside of James Roberts' double in the second period.

Earlier Blake Ayshford had drawn first blood after powering over from close range, before rookie winger Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad set the platform for the second, producing a 40 metre kick return which led to Johnson bursting through a would-be tackle from Jordan Kahu for a try which he also converted.

Captain Roger Tuivasa-Sheck got on the end of Johnson's grubber two minutes from the break to make it 16-0 at half-time.

If the first half was good for the Warriors, the start to the second was great, scoring just three minutes into the second period after a quick play the ball saw Issac Luke dart out of dummy-half and find a looming Ken Maumalo.

A pair of Roberts tries between minutes 53 and 62 gave the Broncos a sniff and set up a nervous final 15 minutes for Warriors fans.

Ben Hunt played a direct role in both four-pointers, laying on the final pass for the first and producing a brilliant cross-field kick for the second, which found Jonus Pearson and subsequently Roberts for a stroll over the line.

But James Gavet's barging effort over the line five minutes later, followed by Johnson's fourth conversion of the night, put an end to any chance of a dramatic comeback.

A trip to face the high-flying Sydney Roosters awaits Brisbane next week, while the Warriors travel to take on the Parramatta Eels on Friday night.

New Zealand Warriors 28 (Blake Ayshford, Shaun Johnson, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, Ken Maumalo, James Gavet tries; Shaun Johnson 4 goals) def. Brisbane Broncos 10 (James Roberts 2 tries; Jordan Kahu 1 goals) at Mount Smart Stadium. Half-Time: 16-0.
