POST GAME Round 15 - Knights vs Broncos

Milford had a good game imo, he made some great runs especially the Karmichael Hunt break. Milford ran for more than 100 meters for his 1st game at fullback in years. He was starved of the ball though, you could actually see him set up for a play and get frustrated on the field because he never got the ball.

So it would seem a few people on here have forgotten the forum wide expressed frustrations with mooses continual 4th take hit ups, giving away dumb penalties and lack of passing game. And those same people have forgotten that under Bennett last year we were constantly criticised for our horrible attitude and getting reamed by the lower placed clubs. Take that already toxic attitude and throw in a seriously out of form fullback/Captain and hooker (key positions) and an extremely messy coaching swap with exacerbated toxicity and you really think any coach, Siebold or Bennett is to blame? Our current form and attitude is symptomatic of the above, nothing to do with which coach is better or more going to the cows. Get real. Would have been a miracle if this season hasn't been a shambles. Bring on 2053 I reckon!

Agreed. And if you don't let Kahu and Moose go then who? We had to be under the cap. I agree with what someone else posted earlier, just cop the backlash and grumblings this year..drop Boyd and Macca, Turpin to 9 SOS to 6, Dearden 7, leave Milf at 1, Seggy bench, and make Glenn captain.

True, i can't see Boyd lasting the rest of the year. I wish the media would talk a lot more about Macca. Macca need to be dropped asap, because I don't see him leaving. Who would sign him. He's gotta be the worst 9 in the comp at the moment.

I have to say I have (and remain) a staunch supporter of the decision to move on from Wayne, but I am having real doubts now that we made the right choice with Seibold. I knew that there there were some internal issues, culture and attitude problems, I just did not realise that they were as bad as they are. I wonder if a good dose of Madge for 2-3 years might have been what we really needed to sort that stuff out.

IMO there was only ever two ways to handle it.

1) Current path, which is smoother politically and buys time to re establish whats wanted in the future. A slower cleanout - players show their true colours.
2) Rip tear bust hard nose style, which can backfire quite quickly and we did have a heap of players that needed resigning. Who's to know if that would put signing off or caused us to lose players.

When was this team humming under Wayne in 2018?
I don't think a 48-18 loss, in week 1 of the finals in front of a packed Suncorp Stadium is what I would call humming.

If one week is all a coach needs to be judged on, then maybe round 23?

Why wish for the media to go after any of our players? If a coach needs the curious smell to tell him to drop a player then he has no business being coach in the first place. I mean we're talking about the type of clowns who can watch Milford play fullback for 2 days and not notice anything until someone mentions it here and it gets posted on reddit.

Isn’t Macca contracted until 2054 though?

Macca's continually inept distribution of the ball in the 20m made me more furious than anything, even more than Darius taking the ball dead. Seib's not putting Turpin on after the first 5minutes of the 2nd half made me even more furious.

What about when Macca had Milf and 3 unmarked players out to his right and he put in a grubber kick, think it was the 1st half. No one knew it was on and Watson got out of the ingoal. Then continuously going to Matt Lodge on the 4th. I now know it wasn't McGuire's fault.

WHAT A POTATO. I am done with Macca.

I am also done with Boyd.

Yes, how is it possible after so may games at hooker he is incapable of spotting an overlap? Ffs mate that is your bread and butter.

Andrew McCullough's career is a fascinating case study.

Even deep into his career, after racking up many, many games, he was still being talked about as a player of potential.

He's now considered a veteran. We probably can't get rid of him because of his experience.

I'm wondering when did he really establish himself? When was he consistently at his best?

2015? When he finally cracked Origin last year? Two years?

I'm amazed at his longevity. He was the Broncos hooker in 2009 and is the Broncos hooker in 2019.

How has he lasted so long? I think part of it is lack of depth in a key position. Over the years, I think only Jake Granville has probably emerged as a serious contender for the number 9 jersey. I would've liked to have kept him.

Perhaps the lesson is keep your head down. Don't make waves. Say nothing. Be a good bloke.

Hard to have the whole dressing room when Bennett is still contacting our players directly - which has been admitted to
Is there not a rule that other teams can't coerce players to break contracts
Jimmy spoke to Bennett and requests release
Sua spoke to Bennett and requests release

🤔🤔🤔

He had his time.. I remember him Hunt and Locky combining beautifully at times.

They can talk to who they like. They cant " officially " talk contracts whilst under contract without the parent clubs permission. No possible way of ever policing it.

Hence players "requesting release" , its the official way of making talks unofficial

I agree that it can't be policed, but they can't coerce such as Bennett hypothetically saying "dont worry mate if you request a release we'll pick you up down here" or even "you could always request a release, because you'll get picked up somewhere"

It would imply that if they break their contract they'll get another contract elsewhere... shouldn't need to be as literal as "you request a release and we'll offer you a contract". The fact a stakeholder from an opposing team suggests they could always ask for a release should warrant action.

But as you say there is no way to police it.

To be fair they looked like the weak links when Bennett had the rest of the team absolutely humming.

Now the entire team is busted playing for a fucking numpty
You've made it clear you love Bennett (and by default, hate Seibold) and wanted to keep him here.

So for arguments sake, say we keep Bennett; what happens when he retires, or does he never retire?

Do we strap him up, Weekend at Bernie’s (call it, Weekend at Benny’s) style, and just keep carrying him around forever and ever?

Or more likely, he retires at the end of this year (in line with his then current contract term) and we have no coach? Do we renew his contract again and hope he finally delivers?

Anyone can sit and criticise something incessantly, but what’s the solution?

We could give a bloke with no experience the keys to the castle. Why don’t we sign him up for 6 years while we’re at it.
