POST GAME Round 15 - Knights vs Broncos

What if Seibold's tasks and intentions for this year were always to take apart a sub-standard team and start again next year?

He’s taken a good side and turned us into a joke.

In typical fashion; you provide only criticism, no solutions and most importantly, no substance.

Just the same old regurgitated, vapid dribble from you when you had a chance to actually offer something worthwhile.
He has nothing worthwhile, he is just a troll. You can't expect anything of substance to appear from a vacuum.

I agree that it can't be policed, but they can't coerce such as Bennett hypothetically saying "dont worry mate if you request a release we'll pick you up down here" or even "you could always request a release, because you'll get picked up somewhere"

It would imply that if they break their contract they'll get another contract elsewhere... shouldn't need to be as literal as "you request a release and we'll offer you a contract". The fact a stakeholder from an opposing team suggests they could always ask for a release should warrant action.

But as you say there is no way to police it.
Asking for a release is not breaking a contract.

I would have extended Bennett and re-evaluated when a suitable replacement came up.

Not pulled my pants down and bent over for a bloke who is cleeeeeearly out of his depth.

So no foresight shown for the fact Bennett is almost 70.

What if he retired or didn’t want to extend at the end of 2019 which, keep in mind, he’s only signed a 2 year contract with Souths, isn’t really that unrealistic? It’s also when his Broncos contract was due to expire.

Ignoring all that for a second; what if there was no “suitable replacement” when he did pull the plug? Experienced coaches with win rates in excess of 55% and premiership wins aren’t exactly filling the lines at Centrelink.

Then what?

You can’t just live in some fantasy land and hope that everything falls into place when you want it to. There comes a time when have to look to the future and a 70 year old coach, quite simply, is not it.

That’s why the Broncos have done what all good organisations do and looked more than one year ahead, particularly when the bloke steering the ship is literally well beyond the retirement age.

Thank god they did, because there’s a better than good chance we’d be worse of if we took your ‘sit, wait and hope it all works out beyond this year’ approach.

Disagreeing with your viewpoint doesn't make him a troll. He is one of only a few on here who weren't fooled by all the Seibum hype. He has constantly said from the start that the dumping of a legend in favor of a nobody was going to be a big mistake. Even he couldn't predict how bad it would actually be. While you and your mates were predicting top 4 finishes and premierships, he was more realistic in stating a playoff spot might be difficult. Cut the GOAT some slack, he is as knowledgeable as anyone in here.

If you love Bennett so much go and follow Souths. Easy fix.
That's rubbish. Should anyone who criticises our players be told to bugger off and find a new team to follow? If I've got opinions re whether Milford is/isn't a fullback, Boyd should be played at centre/qcup/sacked or whether it's all really Macca's fault are you going to tell me to support the boys or gtfo? And if not, why is the coach underperforming so very different?

Seibold came here as the next great coach who was going to take us to the next level. Unfortunately thus far that level seems to be the basement and there's not really any signs the rest of the season will be any better. Just like some of our players he's on a long term contract and just like those same players if he can't deliver then he can find a new job at a club that welcomes mediocrity.

Is that like when someone is 18 they're nearly 21?

Ah no, do your research before you make generalisations about me, I was never predicting a premiership or top 4. You are another of his ilk though. If you disagree with the decision to move Bennett on, vote with your feet and go and support someone else. Your constant negativity adds nothing to this place.

I feel the same. Bellamy was our prime target to be the next coach.

It's very telling he had no interest in heading north.

So much about this situation just beggars belief. It seemed like a panic move to sign Seibold.

I think his tenure has been tainted by the circumstances of his arrival.

It was anything but clean. People can say what they want about Bennett but neither of them covered themselves in glory, imo.

Also, why sign him for 4-5 years? He has done nothing to warrant a contract of that length. The odds of him actually seeing it out are pretty slim. What coach is still at their club from 2014? Who will still be there in 2023?

Absolute joke.

I think we needed an experienced coach, not another rookie.

Yeah I now Seibold had a year under his belt but his career is still very much in its infancy.

He's learning some harsh lessons.

Your post makes valid points, and I would totally agree with you if this hypothetical poster was providing fair and balanced posts. That is, providing criticism where it is due, even regularly, but also providing praise where it is appropriate. In the case of @Acceand @broncsgoat you will struggle to find anything other than a negative post about Seibold from the outset. That is an agenda at work.

I think we made the right decision to get rid of Bennett. His results of late with our team were not good enough. We may have only finished 2 points off top spot last year but, the football we played was not top tier. We lost to almost all of the shit teams and had our best games against the top teams.

I think what helped us get the wins we did last season was Wayne's ability to get players to rise to the occasion. Something Seibold seems to be unable to get out of our team this season. Atleast not with any regularity.

One of the commentators yesterday mentioned that Rugby League is all about attitude and effort. It really struck a chord with me. I thought that is so true, and we are such a good example of that.

Bennett is the type of coach that plays simple football but gets his players to but in. Seibold tries to play a more modern and complex style of football but fails to get his players to buy in. Bellamy is a good example of a coach who plays a modern and complex style whilst having his playing buy in to his system.

That's why Melbourne are first or thereabouts every single year, Broncos were 4-8 or thereabouts most years under Bennet and Seibold is still figuring shit out. We might have been fooled into thinking he already had it worked out before we signed him.

So, who would you gave signed then? Do you think if we kept Bennett on this year with a similar and continuing breakdown between him and management, with the reporting that would have given rise to, that we would be better off? Do you think having Bennett at the club when we were trying to re-sign the players off-contract would have been helpful? You have seen his actions this year from Souths.

Not sure I understand what you’re trying to get at or if you’re trying to be funny / sarcastic?

But at pretty much exactly 6 months short of 70, I’d say that’s almost 70.

Just like $69.50 is almost $70.00.
