Round 16 - Broncos vs Sharks - Pre-Game Discussion

Yeah, I have to concede we have the troops wider out to score tries. Oates just seems a little wasted when his obvious ability to finish is no longer a plus. Also I have to concede we are weakest in the forwards and Oates big frame adds something. If I had a magic wand I'd insert two gorillas and a genuine 5/8 to complete what is a very good nrl side. We certainly seem to have the rest of the positions well served. I just don't understand how we missed a fundamental, the need for a pair of fearsome props. Even Cronulla have done better with regards to forwards.

No matter what team Cronulla brings they always give of their best against us. We most certainly need to turn up switched on. The last time we seemed this certain of victory we played Parramatta. That wasn't pleasant.

Sharks are almost at full strength while we are depleted. We cannot let their forwards have a free reign or with Robson organizing it leaves Carney to bite us on the arse

The only thing I am worried about is at this time of the year the Broncos have a habit of being able to get other teams into form while dropping form themselves.

I hope I am wrong but I just don't think this is going to be as easy as other people have made out it will be.

I agree that this is a danger game.

As has been said we always seem to play teams back into form, and with troops missing we'll certainly have to be on the ball.

I'm predicting a tight win to us.

Once again Hook missing a trick. With nobody outside of Broncos and Sharks fans giving a **** (so basically, Broncos fans + 1000 more people) this is the perfect spot to let a young kid like Nikorima or Taylor to get a taste of first grade and explore an option beyond Hoffman. Even if it is just to play a bit of dummy half in attack (let Lowrie defend there) it would be a prime opportunity to make that introduction without much pressure or risk. But nope, same old, same old.

I have to disagree. The team is in 6th spot and if we win against the Sharks it's essentially a 4 point game with the bye next week. I'd agree with you if we were languishing in last place and all but out of the hunt for the final 8. However, the Sharks have named their strongest side of the season and if there ever was to be an ambush this would be the game. It's very important that we go with what has been successful (even if we don't agree with it) rather than treat this game as a 'gimme'.

Still missing Andrew Fifita, but yes, their best team so far this year. Their back row is excellent but Tagatese and Gibbs as starting props isn't that impressive. Gibbs had retired until they sent out a mercy call. And Sam doesn't get called Take-it-easy for no reason.

That is the best squad they have fielded all year yet when you compare it to ours, it looks pretty terrible. The only player I would take from them is Carney in for Hoffman. Gallen into the front row would work as well but **** him.

I'm actually worried, never like facing teams coming off record losses. They've not scored a point in the last 3 games, so if they're ever going to try to play the game of their lives it is this week.

Cronulla are a rabble, but a highly motivated one

And with rumours of Sharp going a new coach as early as this week, it won't be easy

I so have to do a "danger game" Facebook post now...

Bollocks. We're going to ream them, royally.

Still remember losing to them late 2012,and Wade Graham swaggering like King **** after hammering Hoffman. Pummelling these clowns into the dirt will be hella therapeutic.

That game is exactly the one I'm thinking of. Expecting a rollicking. Coming away fuming after a Wade Graham shit eating grin.

That and when we lost to Parramatta (both in 2012 and this year).

Come to the game, expect a demolishion, get away 2-3 quick tries, end up losing because we turn off.

Cue Sandow's career prolonged for another 12 months.

Pfft, all good lads. I'm throwing a 20 on the Sharks to win which means the Broncs will romp this in.

I agree that we shouldn't experiment with a young half in this game.

If Macca was playing, it wouldn't be an issue since he can play the full 80 and we could have the young half come on for Hoffman in a straight swap to see how he handles the rigors of first grade but unfortunately that isn't the hand we've been dealt. We've got Granny there and he's still adjusting so you need somebody on the bench to replace him. Griffin has opted for versatility in Stagg but I'd rather see us play a specialist to try and catch the Sharks out around the ruck and while my first choice picked up an untimely injury, I'd stick to that plan and bring Cullen in who can definitely play that impact role.

I also honestly think we could do better than Hala off the bench so I'd bring in Jai Arrow who can play in the middle and I believe has a big future in the game. Again, my first pick would have been Molo but he got himself suspended with that stupid high shot late, but Arrow is a strong talent in his own right and deserves a shot.

Yeah, agree re Hala... He has the physique, but lacks the motor or whatever it is that makes him last 10 minutes top at an acceptable work rate. Unless something changes drastically, he's not even worth a contract renewal at this point...

That's already happened, albeit for significantly less money. I guess nobody else wanted him.
