PRE-GAME Round 16 - Roosters vs Broncos

One of the best games ever. Up there with Locky kicking to Kemp.

I loved how Roberts was responsible for three of the tries the Roosters scored but comes out with two clutch plays
My ankles hurt watching Cronk at the end there.

He was jogging next to Staggs...can he play fullback? Hehe

hard to work out how the Broncos can win at SCG; we have a simply horrible record there...only utter complacency on the part of the Roosters would do it...maybe we can win one half?

80 minute effort is a win for me....keep trying for 80 minutes....then you can walk off with head held high...

With Cordner back Tedesco might have a big game...

The Isaako of 2018.. such an instinctive player, then it all changed in 2019 for some reason..
Seeing that soo many players playing way better then we have ever seen them under Seibold, gives me hope that we still have alot of talent in this team if we get the right person to manage it.

I never lost faith in Isaako. I want him to remain a Bronco and I'd experiment with him at 5/8 in the ISC. I'd tell him if he excells in ISC, anywhere he plays he'd stay in my reckoning for NRL action. Also, to stay ready to be called up. I'd keep his deam very much alive.

I don't mind it. I personally would put him at centre but I'm not sure he couldn't make a fist of fullback even with better coaching. I'd be turning him into a left centre though.

Yeah, nothing wrong with that too. Are you saying you do or don't think he could be a fullback? I would like to see him in close because I think he's so nimble on his feet. I'd just try a few experiments with different on field positions because sometimes a player really doesn't know where his best position is.

Yeah I agree. I didn't think he was a fullback but then I do believe he was probably told some pretty mixed and silly instructions, so I want to see him have a go at it with freedom. That said, I do genuinely think he could be a great centre. As you said, they just need to experiment a bit and find his best position because his kicking is just such a weapon for this side.

Agreed, as much as I like Staggs - his kicking is backup level at best. It's like the Parker days all over again. I shudder remembering how many games we lost due to poor kicking.

I recall Isaako rating Staggs' kicking better than his own, but I doubt Staggs practices kicking as often as he should to be consistent. The disruption throughout the Broncos team this year has not helped in having a designated kicker, and let's not forget that a team needs to first score a try or be in a position to take a penalty goal before worrying about kicking.

Oh what I’d give to go back to losing games Just because of our poor kicking.

Yep, goal kicking is a problem to worry about for those teams that score tries and get awarded penalties. Neither of which is applicable to us so it really isn’t worth worrying about at the moment.

Is that not exactly what I said?

Brisbane have generally never been that worried about goalkicking; our best kickers have generally been reluctant to do it in the first place; we dont produce many internally and i can not ever rememebr us going to market specifically to buy a 80%+ kicker

Its just part of our make up; much like not spending copious amounts on forwards.....consider the year we are having now and look at where our salary cap has gone.....can kinda see why thats the case for 30 years now cant you..?

Isaakos goalkicking is a real bonus however and not a skill we should be treating lightly; as we rebuild into next year those kicks he can give us could be crucial in turning close losses into wins...
