POST GAME [Round 17, 2023] Broncos vs Titans

I think line speed is a perfect example of a teams attitude and how it varies from game to game for us.

For most of that game, we were letting them make a million meters per set. We only started holding them in their half near the end when we realised we were in trouble, and there was no miracle play coming. That shows that we can do it, but we only seem to be focused enough to do it in patches.

Compare that to teams like Penrith who's defence is on the same pace for all 80 minutes.

When I talk about coaches trotting out the cliche of "attitude" I'm not referring specifically to Walters nor just this example. It is THE most cliched excuse you can grab, and I'm not even sure to what extent it's genuine or whether it's a euphemism with a couple of players in mind.

So be very Morkel and explain which players need an attitude adjustment and how that adjustment would look to you. Don't be too Morket, we don't need to hear any more infantile conspiracy theories about how we were robbed by the NRL.

You already know the players that need an attitude adjustment. One's been referred straight to the judiciary.

I don't get it. Why play dumb on something like this just to get a reaction?

So Kevvie was just talking about Walsh giving lip?

Seeing that last play again how on earth weren't we awarded a penalty and the titans player binned for the contact on Herbie.

He's literally reaching out full stretch and making contact... there's no shoulder to shoulder BS, just blatant grabbing of Herbie to slow him down.

I want to know the ref's reasoning for not sending it up as a no try but at least allowing the bunker to take a look at it.

Was it the touchie that missed it clearly happening in front of him, the bunker deciding for once to not interfere in the play... or Butler completely missing it?

Even if he thinks Herbie is taking a dive he should've sent it up to be confirmed one way or the other.

There needs to be an explanation for it and how it was missed by all the officials

I still don’t understand how an experienced ref doesn’t send a player if they believe they have called him that. There are park footy refs who wouldn’t cop that.

Exhibit One during the judiciary hearing

Normally, I would say Walsh being referred straight to the judiciary was a good thing because it forces us to fight a BS charge ... unfortunately the NRL judiciary is a kangaroo court and the verdict has already been decided

I think the ref just missed it (can't expect anything from linesmen - they're all hopeless). And to be fair it would be tuff for refs to call sometimes with players diving all over the place.

No real try scored (or appearance of one) off that play to send up for a decision either.

Bunker can jump in as well and flag it to the ref, but it would seem they were all happy to pretend nothing happened.

But if that's what they want to go with then Annersley should be up there explaining that all his officials missed it at an extremely important time of the game

Taking team bias out of it for a second... but Butler had an absolutely incompetent performance.

he had no less than 5 try decisions overturned by the bunker.

If I made 5 major mistakes in 80 mins of work, I'd be getting a serious please explain from my bosses .. Butler's bosses on the other hand will remain silent

To be fair, after just watching it again it does look like Herbie takes a dive (and wouldn't have got there anyway). Probably too little to stop the game over.
