POST GAME [Round 17, 2023] Broncos vs Titans

I've just been outside and I can confirm it does indeed appear the sky is falling. Woe! Woe is us!

Losses happen. We'll be fine.
They seem to happen a lot against bottom 8 sides at home. As long as we keep smashing top 8 sides I guess?

Walsh might get a rap on the knuckles (contrary conduct) for calling the referee a ****.

For a team that doesn't show up to play lower ranked teams and can't beat higher ranked teams, our win-loss ratio is surprisingly healthy.

Slack, slack, slack.

What is with us and playing at home? We just cannot switch on mentally when Lang Park is involved. Has to be a matter of the team still being young and ill disciplined expecting home games to be a cake walk, but the results do not reflect that. You would expect better than that from Reyno at the very least.

Barely win against Newy, lose a sloppy affair to the Titans, I'm getting a little concerned about the whole late season clock off thing. There's no reason to be playing like you just popped 3 Valium when you're coming off a bye and a legendary Origin victory. I hope Kevvie planned to take the foot off around this period intentionally cause otherwise, trouble is afoot.

Mistakes will be made but the two times I’ve actually been pissed off about Cobbo were the two times he’s just given up and not bothered. It’s so disappointing
He is on the trajectory you flagged unfortunately. He does not look fit to me. He should be dropped after that performance until his performances in Cup warrant his return. Arthars should not be missing out whilst Cobbo is dishing up that tripe.

As the old gag goes:

Who called the Ref a ****?
Who called the **** a Ref?!
Unfortunately, Walsh has form with not respecting authority, and hopefully gets a decent fine. His second run-in with The Man in under a week.

Lest we forget his arrest for "contravening a police move-on direction:"

The other concern with Cobbo (which fits the issues that Cult raised) is that he was effectively dropped from Origin as far as I can see, and I would have hoped that he would be motivated to come out and have a blinder to press his case for Origin 3. Instead, he did everything to confirm for Billy that the decision to drop him was the right one. Worrying signs.

Yeah Coates will rightfully be selected ahead of Cobbo for game 3. Hope it's a wake up call for Cobbo but I doubt it.

I think we may have to start giving Cobbo a break every couple of weeks or so

Feels like he just needs a break from the week-in-week-out grind while he's young to get the best out of him

Even next year it'll help give whoever out of Arthars and Mariner doesn't take Herbie's spot more game time

I won't defend Walsh but we all remember how we were when we were 20. The young fella has just come off a QLD series win and needs to stop watching his own highlight reel and listening to the commentators circle jerk sessions.

He should be spending some time with some sports therapists - might help him mature quicker.

at the end of the game this **** in the middle proved that the voluntary tackle rule is indeed no long enforced despite being in the rule book.

the Titans player lied on the ground with the Broncos refusing to touch him ... yet even after 5 - 10 seconds no penalty

My seat's on the front row close to the 30 metre line ... spent the whole of the second half yelling at Cobbo to get 2 metres wider, he got burned once for a try by Khan-Pereira ( biggest poser in the league btw, what a muppet) who would probably have easily done the same again given more ball.
One of the worst games I've ever sat through and a crowd of that size deserved more.

Walsh over-excited and over-confident after an emotional origin series win, at least his mistakes were made trying hard, but he probably should have been rested and will need to be settled down this week.

Cobbo on the other hand… unfit, lazy, awful.. doesn’t belong in the team. People on here scoffed when I said he was a borderline first grader but he keeps proving me right. He needs a stint back in QCup. 90% of what he does, Arthars could do but with far fewer mistakes and way more heart and effort.

Team overall was flat and awful and Kevvie has every right to be angry. Reynolds played very poorly.

Hopefully just shaking off the rust from bye week and bounce back against the Dolphins.

Overall, this loss was no different from the Raiders loss earlier in the year - we played terribly, still almost won and if not for a few shocking ref calls actually would have won, but we didn’t play well enough regardless.

Actually crawled forward on his hands and knees ffs!
