Round 2 - Broncos vs Cowboys - Post Match Discussion

Norman frustrated the hell out of me tonight he did make some good decisions but he looks to tuck & run way to often and those 2 chips were absolute rubbish. Hoffman, Teo, Wallace and Hodges were the standouts for me and Thaiday needs to get the **** out of the front row

Ben Hunt has been so much more impressive than McCullough at hooker so far. If it keeps up, I hope Griffindor has the balls to swap them.

Thaiday needs to get the **** out of the front row

This.

They've tried Thaiday in the front row so many times and it's never worked. Get him back to the back row, Te'o to the bench. Surely Petero will start next week.

Norman was frustrating, but that try to Te'o is why I think he's got something special.

Showed excellent vision to create the overlap and then threw a cracker of a pass which drew Thurston across, creating the gap for Te'o to run straight through.

Also got us out of trouble with that huge boot of his, when he kicked it about 70 metres to go dead. We need to see him kicking from inside our half a lot more IMO.

I have to say our new sleeve sponsor may have the most worthless sponsorship ever. On TV it looked like a plain white patch because the text and lines on the logo are so thin.

It's disappointing we lost because it was a great chance to rack up a few points early in the season. Norman's input in the last try was brilliant.

Like last week, we seemed to play better with Hunt on the field.

Tough luck boys great game though. But **** there goes my perfect tipping round.

are premierships ever won and lost in March ? Didn't think so .....

I think they can definitely be lost. I just hope that we don't look back on a loss like this one when we are 2 points short of the top 4 or the 8 when september comes around.

As I start to ease down from spitting chips at full-time, I agree it's not the end of the world.

FFS the last Broncos try wasn't a brilliant piece of play from Norman. You're easily pleased. You're one of these people that get precum from viewing the underwear section of the Target catalogue, yeah? Me too..
Norman is shieet. Beale is shieet. Nothing has changed from the first time I saw them both played.

Bowen ALWAYS carves us up and tonight was no exception. Little bastard. They cut us up the middle quite a few times and I don't think Hook will be pleased by that. We have ****ed the balance of the side by putting Thaiday up front IMO. McGuire is well on his way to being the best prop in the game in the future (early days). Norman needs to run the ball less and look to put his runners into holes more. Hunt needs more minutes, has been a clear winner over Macca in the first 2 games IMO. Hodges needs to pull his head in, abusing his team mates like that is weak. Save it for the dressing room. We need to get our backs more quality ball and we need more in attack from Hoffman. Kicking game needs work in a big way.

Brisbane coach Anthony Griffin said his players hadn't been prepared to work hard enough defensively.
"We were very poor defensively tonight," he said.
"Some bad decisions and lack of effort."

I guess you were right Big Pete... :haha:

I don't think Thaiday was ever going to start at prop after tonight even if we won. The only reason he got the nod was because Civo wasn't match fit and Te'o is considered a better starter than McGuire.

EDIT: Griffin has extremely high standards, doesn't surprise me he was disappointed with our defence. Personally I thought there were some great signs but yeah even I said there were some dumb mistakes there particularly from experienced players.

We were THAT close from being 2 from 2 to start the season...without Lockyer. That can only be a good thing.

Spot on!!! Lets not forget the Cowboys are quality opposition as well.

good start :eyebrow:

I explained that.

Te'o would be considered a better starting player - more reliable in defence, fitter and a weapon.

McGuire has a bit more impact value.

But that's just one way of thinking of it - I think you have a fair point as well.

Gillett seemed to get almost no ball tonight.

I think one of our main short comings was the inability to kick the ball over the sideline and pack a scrum. Surely in the later stages of the game it would be better than putting up an "attacking" bomb.
