POST GAME Round 2 - Broncos vs Rabbitohs

Fingers crossed we should be right next week its only titans, If our forwards step up again, Dearden fills in should get the job done. Im nervous for the week after against panthers at there home.

Glenn and Joffa should be back next week as well. Praying to god that news comes out that scans are good and its only 3 weeks on the sideline for croft.
I'm not sure that home ground advantage really applies at the moment. I guess the travel can take a bit out of you. But JT13 proved it can be done.

Yes, please only 3 or so weeks out for Croft. He just looked to classy and polished. With him in the side we are legit premiership chances. He is (literally) in another leauge to Dearden.

Yep, but even still.

He's rubbish. He's big. That's seemingly his only asset.
Rubbish lateral movement, too slow getting off tackles and he doesn't even use his size to dent the line. He's the smooth peanut butter of forwards - a poor imitation.

I didn’t watch last night as I was at a wedding but I have previously been impressed with the bloke from a value for money perspective

Oh, I don't know if I agree with your rating. I think Croft's had a lot longer in the game and I absolutely believe Dearden will come into his own. I've been told he's a student of the game, level headed and always looking to improve.

We looked really good with the Milf-Dearden-Turpin combo last year. I think we’ll manage just fine until Croft is back. We also have an actual fullback this time around too.

I said we looked good last week and predicted a win last night 👍🏽

If you want me to give seibs credit for having a team perform as it should, fine.

Doesn’t take away from last years abomination

I agree with that.
Will take a win every time but in the fair dinkum department we had enough ball early to win 2 games..Souths looked worse than than the dogs if that's possible, just horrible. For them to be in front of us at half time, considering how much ball we had must raise some eyebrows.
I thought Fafita's and Boyd's defence was outstanding, Boyd covered Oates's inability to stay out that would have resulted in tries last year for sure.
If the season goes ahead round 4 will tell us where we are at, other than that the draw looks pretty good for us for the first half of the season compared to previous years.
Siebold will have ample time to get the team the way it should be.
No excuses this year!

I thought we bustled the rabbits into errors with aggressive, enthusiastic defence and they looked a bit clueless as a result. Souths are potentially a top 4 side with a great, settled spine. They were never going to go away. Under the circumstances, that's a fucking great win for our club.

Kennedy?
You're complaining because he slows down the play the ball? Um...
He also gets quick play the balls in attack by getting on his front every tackle. He doesnt dent the line but he certainly doesnt get dominated in tackles.

What are people expecting. He'd be on minimum wage and he's our 18th-20th man with a full squad. He does the job. He has outperformed most of the opposition's bench forwards the last 2 weeks. He's not Haas, he's not great but he's a massive bang for bucl purchase to fill a gap when we have injuries to this amazing crop of young forwards.

some thoughts;

1. Good win considering the uphill struggles we faced with game management once Croft went off. Reading between the lines, whilst Dearden is probably a cert to start next game (whenever that is), I am starting to believe AS is seriously considering bringing him into the bench form now on. Depends on when Turps can go 80 minutes, but the writing is on the wall for Macca.

2. Few people applauding Kennedy on his tactical penalties on our goal line. Maybe; if we are in a similar position next game AND he does it, then ill agree that its part of our defensive scheme on our line. Certainly it mitigates the opposition getting space and time to thread balls into the in-goal with Isaako defending in the line...

3. The set prior to Johnsons try was the one time Souths forwards got a roll on against us. This speaks to our guys abilities to dominate a weaker pack. Kennedy was on at that time, not sure who he replaced but I hope its not a trend. With Offa back next week im not so sure on Kennedys game time.

4. I know he got injured but; Turps little kick to Croft....yes please! Love that variety in our goal line attack! That was nowhere to be seen last year. Cant get carried away, I have no idea if there is any footy next week, but signs are definitely pointing up.

5. Last tackle of the game, Souths Hail Mary to get Roberts 1v1 on Boyd....have to admit a huge fist pump from me as Boyd rode that disgusting little **** into the dust..!

oh and 1 more..

6. Quite happy with the contribution of our Tier 2 bench forwards tonight. Hoppa, Kennedy, Bullemor, none are World beaters but the had a job to do and did it very well. I dont expect them to emulate what Glenn, Lodge and TPJ can do but they did very well, kudos to them. Flegler is a beast! His greatest strength in bringing the ball out is he seems to have this ability to let the defence set itself to hit him but he then shuffles his feet just before he hits the defensive line and puts them off......I noticed it a lot last night, a little detail but its very effective...!

Hopate had a better game than I've seen Offa or Glenn have in a long time. He was killing it.
Maybe we should wait for offa to play before judgment is made, everyone has had a great preseason by what's been said and how we look.
A lot of people had issues with isaako at 1 but he is proving people wrong , I thought flegler may struggle but I think he's been one of our best so far. Offa may prove the haters wrong.

Dearden to cover Croft > Farnworth to cover Oates and Coates to take the bench spot. I wonder what/when Paix has to do get the 14?

Tactical penalties are a part of most teams defensive line... straight after Kennedy gave away the second penalty on our line Milf gave away a penalty when we were shot again

Milf's was borderline professional foul and then the ref gave us our warning.. we didn't give away anymore penalties after that and eventually a rabbits error gave us the ball back.

Agreed. Our defence was shot and he gave those away as a calculated risk i thought. I think Milford ended up giving one away too by deliberately being offside. Kennedy is a bench role player doing his job well at the moment and he also adds a bit of size with footwork to our forward rotation.
