PRE-GAME Round 2 - Titans vs Broncos

This is the superstar team that just got flogged by Nathan Brown's possible wooden spoon warriors?

The team who have half their salary cap tied up in 2 second rowers who had absolutely no impact on the game?

The team relying on a spine consisting of the woeful Mitch Rein, the 'potential' of Ash Taylor, career nobody Jamal Fogarty and AJ Brimson who when he isn't injured has had 10 good games his whole career (all in the back half of last year)?

Last year the Titans way outperformed... and they still missed the finals. If there's one team in the comp I'm not scared of... its little brother Titans.

Broncos by 13+
Their salary cap is only 3.8 million?
Gee, you might want to apply your megabrain investigative skills on to the Broncos. You're not scared of the Titans, a team we haven't beaten in years😯

Now that's what I call bias!!!

Your points are all valid, but I'm honestly loathed to bag out anybody else's spine when I look at our own. We have the worst performing spine in the competition and I don't even think it's a closely run thing with the other 15 clubs.
I think the difference here is our spine is just as bad but we're being unanimously picked for wooden spoon, while most are putting Titans in the 8.
I agree we have a lot of issues, but I'd take our squad over GC's any day.

So, all the experts are wrong, the betting agencies are wrong and the overwhelming majority of fans are wrong or at the very least, poor judges?

Hear me out here and I know it's far fetched and possibly ridiculous to propose but...could you be wrong?

Oh I know, laughable in the extreme and more chance the sun will reverse direction but, is it technically possible?

Every year there's consensus final teams that bomb out, every year there's consensus basement-dwellers who surprise.

That's the nature of sport in a regulated competition. People will be wrong, betting markets will be inefficient and media will be fuelled by external agendas - talking up the Titans and building hype is good for clicks and media attention.. regardless if it's right or wrong.

That's why they play the game, champion!

I'm not saying I'm right or can tell the future, simply sharing my opinion on an internet forum. If that differs from yours then so be it... Maybe you can contribute more to the discussion around the merits of the Titans team than to facetiously try to belittle everyone who has an opinion which varies from your own.

Tiger’s spine is pretty horrendous. I think it’s even worse than ours.
I never paid much attention to or noticed how bad Luke Brooks was until all the offseason chatter about the fact that its his 'last chance' and he's never even made the finals.
Well... Round 1 certainly made me take notice.

This is very true... after watching round 1 Luke Brooks was absolutely woeful. They could be a real shout for the bottom 4.

Thinking Brooks may even get dropped to reserve grade for stints this year.

I also wonder if Madge will be as carefree with his team selections this year.... I think Tigers used about 30 players last year, but it was more about Madge chopping and changing rather than injuries.

They look a little rudderless down there and Madge's style may start to cause some friction in the playing group if they're not winning. Thinking there could be a fallout occurring down there this year

I hope the players arent going into this game as confident as some posters on here are.

Over the last 4yr or so every game that we've gone into where we're expected to win we typically shit the bed and bomb out... and usually bomb out spectacularly

Coming off a spoon and with the squad we have we cannot take any team for granted and we must turn up to play every second of the 80mins.

Make no mistake this season will be a grind for these players until they start getting a few wins on the board and remember what it's like to win again.

Team List today! I expect to see Croft, Milf, Turps and Issy spine.

Pending health of Asiata, he should be starting lock. We can manage with TPJ and Carrigans as starting props with Riki and Glenn in the back row.

Bench rotation of Fleg, Teo and Bullemore and Oates for utility.

I don't know about the rest of BHQ, but every week without Haas is so frustrating. I can't stop thinking 'if only'. His suspension was only made worse when Lodge went down last week. If you look at the amount of games missed by Haas it makes him look like a choir boy onfield and a crimbot offfield.

I try to be as objective and impartial as possible and I have to say, I can't agree with you on this one. Perhaps at full strength things would be not a really long way apart, but since we are absolutely never at full strength this isn't exactly relevant.

The fact their spine delivers far more than ours is the major difference though. You could argue our players are as good at their best, but when it comes to actual deliverable outcomes, they blow us away in those 4 key positions at the moment.

Keep in mind, Brookes is (currently) the best spine player in that spine (Laurie has potential).
I have to confess, when I made my original comment I hadn't factored in that Harry Grant had moved back to Melbourne.

Without him you could probably put them in the same ballpark as us. They do have Simpkin on the horizon though who has huge wraps on him as a Dummy Half and of course they have Laurie who should very quickly go past Isaako as that isn't a very high bar to jump over at all as it stands right now.

And we have Walsh and Dearden. I don’t think our spine is as bad as there’s.
