Round 21 - Broncos vs Eels - Post Match Discussion

we're only 6 points behind after what, 10 minutes of the second half?

Was much later in the game than that. Was when Hunt was playing halfback, so must have been after Wallace went off injured which was around the 65min mark from memory. Was a bit of an error of judgement on Teos part, but he game was already lost by then.

Norman.....what was with his passing, can't he hit a player running forward on the chest, constantly passing behind and basically stopping any forward momentum from the wider runners.

there was one where if he hit on them on the chest it would of been forward.

organisation is the problem. they're always out of sync.

nah, it wouldve gotten us to 6 points behind. im 99.999999999% certain that it was 30-18 at the time. could be wrong, but i remember thinking 'booyah 6 behind!...wtf teo!?!?!?'

I think it would have got us to 8 behind if we kicked it (36 - 22 at the time )with about 9 to go. It was a big mistake as it turned out, we may well have worried them out of it. We would have scored the other side straight after that but Hunt put in that shocker of a kick.

Pretty sure the score was 36-22 at that stage, so would have seen us 8 points behind at best, and there was much less than 30 mins left on the clock.

That performances just makes me feel like curling up in the fetal position.

Disgraceful, unacceptable all of the above. I hope we don't kid ourselves, 2 of those tries came from Parra being the worst side in the competition, not from us being any good. They didn't take any pride out there and we were sitting ducks from the 20 minute mark onwards.

Changes need to be made.

Capewell - Left right out. Might be a hot shot in Q Cup but his s**tty defence and dumb last tackle dummy half attempts don't fly in first grade.

Only one backrow in centres. I'd rather none but know it really isn't a possibility. Having two was stupid and moving Beale back to the wing was a dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb decision. Only reason I was fine with Beale not being fullback was because I thought he needed more than one game to adjust to the centres. Didn't even happen, so stupid.

Wallace or Norman dropped. Wallace maybe injured so Hook really has no reason not to go with Hunt who is at least willing to have a dig and knows how to position himself and the team. Wallace is a sitting duck out there, waddling, stuttering and not passing it around and positioning himself in no mans land with his stupid skipper Slammin' Sam.

F**k Thaiday. Yeah, he made a try saver but WTF was with him constantly putting himself in a position where he couldn't get the ball? I thought the Thaiday choice would pay off but he's really proving me wrong. Bitterly disappointed.

Civoniceiva & Gillett -----> Bench. Their defence was deplorable and unlike Moose, didn't offer anything with the ball. I love Bulla, but even by his own accord he knows he isn't good enough at the moment.

Macca should have played the full 80. Was looking good out of dummy half all night, yet as soon as we took him off we went to complete s**t. Time to take the full plunge or f**k him off for a hooker like Baptiste who's been killing it in every competition he's played in.

Lui experiment is done. He's useless. Bring back Gibb or even J. Wallace. Hell, Frei has been busting his ass in both attack and defence for any side he's played in. Lui is a soft player. Talented, but soft and we don't need that right now. Needs to man up in Q Cup. Honestly, don't understand how he even gets picked. Easily one of our worst Q Cup affiliate players.

We're the imposters and until the boys play with some desire, energy and tenacity we'll be the jokes of the competition.

I can cop it but I know we're better than this.

Agree on most points for sure. Gotta disagree on the macca call though, he has been consistently one of our best so I don't know why you want to f*** him off for baptiste, who has not really impressed at all in first grade bar last year in Perth (granted he hasn't been given much chance. IMO Hunt needs to go to HB and macca needs to play the full 80, or interchange with baptiste.

I can't forgive Capewell for his stupid Macca like surrender on tackle 5 when we had all the momentum. He looked out of his depth and he's even worse at five eigth. Titans fans can elucidate on that.

What was his other option? give it to wallace to watch him die with the ball? or give it to norman and watch him either do his stupid little dance and die with the ball? or even worse kick it into the defenders legs and risk a length of the field try?

That really wasn't my point. I was stressing Macca should be playing 80 and he shouldn't have come off last night. He was easily one of our best and has been these past couple of weeks.

If that's what he's thinking he deserves to be dropped pronto.

His play was never on and it isn't the first time he's done it at first grade either.

People lose their s**t when Macca does it but suddenly it's a-okay when the noobie does it.

Sorry about that, I read it as 'get rid of macca'. Now I understand your point I fully agree, macca has to play 80. He looks fit as to me so I really can't see why he can't. The main thing for me is Hunt NEEDS to be in the halves, no more of this interchange hooker garbage. Having our most creative half coming off the bench in not he's best position is stupid. All it is going to achieve is him leaving for a starting role elsewhere in his preferred position, and then we are even more f***ed than we currently are.

With capewell I guess I was giving him a bit of rope seeing this was his first real opportunity, but I take your point

Hooks form is as bad as the teams. They really need to hit the reset button and start again. That defensive display last night was deserving of the wooden spoon.

Especially when you consider that they spent the entire week working on their defense

I've always been outspoken in regards to Hunt on the bench. After Round 6 when they decided on Norman, Hunt should have been in QCup and they should have given the likes of Baptiste a chance to acquaint himself to first grade while Hunt plied his trade in QCup in case Wallace or Norman were injured/stunk the joint out.

As it stands, his game hasn't really evolved as it should have and he lacks a bit of polish Hunty.

I'd be more forgiving towards Capewell if he hadn't already played 36 first grade games. As it stands, I don't think he should be anywhere near a full strength line-up and would gladly let him take Redcliffe to a premiership.

I thought capewells dummy half effort was a selfish play

Capwell has only got a game due to injury. He surely doesn't get a contract for next year. He goes ok but you wouldn't want him to play any more than a handful of games for us.

He made a couple of try saving tackles (Sio's break) and almost stripped that other one over the line (which I still don't agree with).

He also showed more in support play than Hoffman has over the past 10 rounds.

yeah i dont see where all the hate on capewell is coming from. i mean im not saying he's in our best 17 or anything but for a depth player he did an alright job.
