I can't forgive Capewell for his stupid Macca like surrender on tackle 5 when we had all the momentum. He looked out of his depth and he's even worse at five eigth. Titans fans can elucidate on that.

Someone touched on it before but I don't think there's any doubt a lot of our boys are playing busted. Thaiday and Hoffman are two confirmed. It wouldn't surprise me if Wallace is carrying something, he doesn't seem to be able to carry injuries well.

Boy oh boy Parker is important to this footy team.

Next week is our season IMO. If we lose to Canberra it's hard to see us winning any of the next 3 so even if we manage to beat Penriff we will more than likely tie for 8th and go out on points differential.

On the plus side our completion rate was much improved from last week. I'm sure that would have been the focus this week. Unfortunately they seemed to forget about defence...

Broncos coach Anthony Griffin summed up his feelings saying: "We got what we deserved, tonight was an embarrassing effort."

He didn't get an argument from captain Sam Thaiday who described Brisbane's performance as "terrible"

"We've got to go back and hit the reset button, we were terrible out there tonight," he said.

"We have to find a bit of character, get back to playing some tough football."

"We're not playing like a finals side, we can't think about the finals."

---------

lets hope those words are turned into action.

His other options were to give it to Wallace or Norman. Can't blame him for going himself.

so in other words, they both just repeated the "key messages" from this time in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007 & 2010 .... :loser:

Hook will persist with Norman. I dunno what they're coaching him to do but he, Wallace and Macca are running it just too much.... I think the structures are there outside them, but they are choosing to run (or are they being forced, I really don't know)

So.....just to be clear here, are you suggesting the possibility of a coaching issue?

It can't be the coach. He does all te right things, coaches and rehearses set plays, has an alternating flat and deep attacking plan, drills structure and line speed in defence and instills the critical element of support play.

No it is not that. The players go out there on the field and either deliberately don't follow the game plan or couldn;t be bothered.

Ahhh, what do they do at training?

I don't think Parker has shown all that much when he has been captain in the past, but he can't do a worse job than Thaiday.

BTW Thaiday tonight was: 4 runs for 22m and 23 tackles. Garbage.

Not sure what happened but he was off the field with some sort of injury that needed stitches according to the commentary.

I am usually one to take positives away from a game but that shit was woeful tonight. The defense was abominable. Some of our usual best tacklers just couldn't get a read or a hit on anyone. There was no urgency, no desire, no heart.

Let this be the low point please.

I'd like to know why Whitchurch played a whole eight minutes? WTF is up with that?

I truly hope he wasn't hooked just because he knocked on in playing the ball. Getting sick of this need to have one bench player play a laughable number of minutes.

Webbing in his hand I think it was.

He's been subpar all season though TBF.

Most weeks his stats have been acceptable, but a captain he is apparently not.

Stats aren't the be all and end all though. To me, it's just seemed like he's been going through the motions this season.

He's lost that dynamism that made him so great in previous years. Can't remember the last time he broke through the line.

I've always been one of his biggest fans too, so I find it really disappointing.

Can't believe people are saying there are no positives. There was a glaring positive - Ben Hunt. He was halfback for the last 15 and he made things happen. Not everything he did was successful (for example his kick that went straight to Sandow) but he created some attack and went hunting (no pun intended) for the ball. I would love to see him given some consecutive games at halfback. Wallace with a hamstring injury, so we'll see.

Yeah, I thought Ben Hunt looked great in that 15 minutes. More than anything, he had an idea of what he wanted to do. That chip and chase was great to see. Wallace has technically done them, but they look so rehearsed and frankly, mediocre. Hunt will back his vision, which is more than Wallace will do, as he possesses neither vision nor the willingness to take a risk. I still think he has a role to play though, but with Norman at fullback (or left right out).

I also thought we looked better when Ben Hannant passed at the line. This created space on the outside, that was of course squandered because that's where Corey Norman lives. But overall, our attack is one dimensional. We have very few offloads going, and when we do, there's not much in the way of real support. I really do think we looked 500% better when Hannant passed at the line and wish we would explore more ball movement from our forwards, because frankly, nobody else is going to distribute it.

Yeah. Bulldogs have been doing that too, their props pass at the line, and it's one of the biggest reasons for their success (right after Barba) IMO.

Was at the game and didn't see a replay, but how did Te'o NOT score? And how did Parra fullback not go into touch? Why was Capewell's strip on tryscorer not deemed a knock on (ala Tate in Origin 2?). If that player drops the ball on that exact play, without Capewell's intervention, it's a knock on 100% all day everyday

Te'o didn't score cause hannant took out a defender right next to him. Correct decision.
Cape wells strip wasn't deemed a knock-on because it wasn't a knock-on, it was play on. Correct decision. The call against Tate in origin was incorrect.

That second try I think it was to parramatta was so blatantly a penalty that the video ref needs to be sacked this week. Attacking players without the ball CANNOT touch a defender AT ALL when the defender is in the process of tackling the ball carrier. There have been 2-3 tries exactly like that disallowed this season, one against the broncos iirc where te'o pushed a defender who was on top of our guy to try and force the ball as he was being held up. It's no try, and they got it very wrong tonight.

Gillett played one of the worst games I've ever seen, second rowers as centers cost us dearly, Wallace is still terrible, hunt needs the halfback job, maranta will be a goodun, and Thaiday played to his 2012 standard of horrible. Season over.
