POST GAME Round 22 - Broncos vs Bulldogs

Did anyone see Cam Smith on Sterlo on Wednesday night.

He was saying when Alex Corvo was at the Storm, he would taper off training a month before the finals. (when they knew they would be there) & it didn't matter if they lost a few games.

Smith said, I don't know if he is doing the same at the Broncos, as he hasn't spoken about it to the Broncos players.

I am not saying this is what is happening.

He said he does a 6 week mini preseason aka works then v v hard then stops so they are fresh again.

Did Lockyer suffer a knock to the head during the call? I could have sworn he said Broncos prop....

Any chance of coply getting a run next week? Seems reeds for has gone back to old shit mess.

We need one of those hard running islanders.

There was an article about this the other day and apparently its a 'feature' for Bennett coached teams to drop rounds toward the end of the season as the change training in preparation for the finals.

Sam Burgess would fill the bill ideally.

Re: Round 23 - Broncos vs Bulldogs

Should have been a penalty for the check on Reed, giving Parker the chance to level it up.

I thought the cover on the next kick (I think) was worse. Almost every Bronco played off the ball or blatantly brought down to give the Dogs winger a clear shot. I thought the high balls were poor options anyway, we haven't had much success off them all year. Surely running it or putting it on the ground in goal is the percentage play there.

Pretty bad decision making throughout at key moments, and in a two point game just one with a better outcome might have won the game for us. Throwing stupid passes when uncalled for, dying with the ball on the last when stupid passes are actually called for. Too many errors. Not enough organisation when needed. I can definitely see we're still a growing team, but it's still frustrating to watch sometimes.

Papalli would be my pick. Imagine Ricky's tears.

We'd be screwed at Origin time though.

That would be in line with Bennett's thinking, I would imagine.

It was deemed a loose carry by Milford. According to Cummins, Lichaa wasn't playing at the ball when he made the tackle.

It's a 50/50 that didn't go the Broncos way.

A 50/50 didn't go our way? Unheard of!

Reed drops it with the line side open and Parker steaming on. The Dogs score off a forward pass as usual. Lottery penalties as usual and a fifty-fifty against Milford. Any given other day we get those things right and win comfortably. I'd rather get these things out of our system now than when it counts in a few weeks time. We'll be fine.

I'm not going to blame the refs like so many Broncos fans sitting around me, but they did make it more difficult for the Broncos.

Forward passes not being called, players not getting back the 10, holding down in tackles, offside chasers not being penalized. It was getting ridiculous.

But, you have to learn how to win under those circumstances.

I'm actually not that upset over the loss.

It was tough to watch, but after last week I wanted them to put in a better effort and they did. If Parker gets his conversion or Reed doesn't drop that ball, we would have won.

Unfortunate, but that happens.

I still think Oates should have been on the bench. We could have really used his impact off the bench late in that second half.

We'll win next week.
