Round 23 - Bulldogs vs. Broncos - Build Up Thread

Really? Last season? Or are they referring to 2010? Outstanding is pushing it (other than his debut game).

which was in 2010 v Cowboys in Rd 1. And yeah, he did quite well ... back then

i watched some highlights. he made 3 excellent try saving tackles in the first 17 minutes. few blunders in the second half though.

Didn't he set up a try or two as well?

He delivered the final pass in at least 3 in that game.

What I like about Norman at fullback is that if he's coming in as the man from the back it's okay to run more. He's a run first pass second kinda guy and he's much better in a run first position like fullback than a position like five eight.

He could be like Wade Graham, who needs to be move to another position for him to show everyone what he's made of.

The bottom line is we need more points, this can't hurt. The interesting thing will be, if he tears it up and we score through him, if Hoffman gets selected next game.

If the Norman at fullback experiment works this week then I'd like to see Norman picked there again next week, and Hoffman on the wing.

During play, I'd like to see Hoffman and Norman switch in defence, so Norman's on the wing and our stronger defensive fullback at the back - Hoffman's great strength is his ability under the high ball (normally) and kick returns. So that would maximise that.

Hook and everyone is going to learn a J. Walter Weatherman style lesson.

'And that's why you don't play Norman at fullback'

I'd prefer to see Capewell > Norman.

... and having said all that, we will probably find Capewell at FB.

I will however confess that I would like to see how Norman goes at the back, tearing down Morris and Barba. Yeah right ...

Shame we don't have a gun under 20's fullback or winger coming through that we can throw to the wolves.

Capewell's FG career has been about 2 times worse than Norman's so far.

After seeing Norman's debut in '010 I thought yessss. But the wolves seem to have feasted. Maybe now he can starve the Dogs ...

Playing for the Titans will do that to one's career. :tongue_smilie:

Beggers can't be choosers and this feels like some messed up option you'd see in a movie like Saw. I'd rather see Beale there but Hook seems hesitant to play Whitchurch for whatever reason & Beale will be kept to dummy half work from here on out. Maybe with Hodges back he might actually see some ball. Whoever said Te'o would make a good centre was clearly wrong because the guy was absolutely shocking and never looked to past which absolutely killed us in some games.

I see Capewell as the lesser evil. Norman offered nothing there last year and away from his debut game always looked lost at sea. I don't see how playing fullback will improve his playmaking skills, his ability to read a game faster and improve his passing game. Especially when it's against a form side like the Bulldogs.

Put aside the crappy music and the at times crappy video, and this shows Norman's fullback debut quite well. Can he repeat it? That's the question. It was notable that the Cowboys comeback came after Norman made a bad error though.
