I agree with this but still think the roosters were given massive favouritism with the napa no charge/shoulder charge. It was the very definition of a shoulder charge and hit the bloke in the head (dunamis lui) yet he doesnt even get cited despite his horrendous record. Disgraceful and such obvious leeway/bias given to that clubCordner's tackle wasn't worthy of a Grade 2.
It wasn't even that bad. The only thing wrong with it was the fact that Bateman slightly went above the horizontal. He doesn't even go head first into the ground.
I love to bag out the MRC as much as anyone but this isn't some conspiracy because it's a Sydney club. The MRC are consistent with giving those tackles a Grade 1 regardless of who they play for.

Wasn’t he at 45 degrees down at one point and lucky to end up on his shoulder. And was reckless in putting hands between legs like that. It wasn’t an intentional spear but was more than careless. After McKinnon one would think that sort of thing has to be dealt with harshly to protect the game from a lawsuit let alone anything else. But as has been said it was really Batemans fault for running the ball at Cordner...
Nice to have points hanging over his head come grand final eve but pretty sure he could stiff arm someone around the throat and it would be penalty to Roosters for interfering with the defender....
Could the timing be any better =(
Sure, if you say so. If that's your definition of slightly above horizontal I'd recommend you never become a surveyor. Secondly his head very much did hit the ground. Truly blinkered.Cordner's tackle wasn't worthy of a Grade 2.

Yeh if that was Moose he'd be looking at 5 weeks minimum. It's getting worse than that pretendy wrestling. But just like those wrestling fans I'm a diehard tragic for the game and can't give it away.Sure, if you say so. What ? Cordner did two spear type tackles ? Huh ? I watched the same tackle and head and shoulder contacted the ground simultaneously as far as I remember but I only saw it twice so I could be wrong. As for the horizontal thing I can only say you should have gone to SpecSavers.I think you're watching the wrong tackle.
I also never said his head didn't hit the ground. I said his head didn't hit the ground head first which is a something that is looked at, along with any injuries, when determining the grade of a tackle. He's landed on his shoulder and his head hit the ground after.
That tackle has never been a Grade 2 and it never will be.
