POST GAME Round 25 - Broncos vs Eels

Sims and Blair simply can't start together. Need to partner someone like Ese'ese or Ofahengaue with one of them so that we aren't on the back foot in the first 20.
I'd like to see Sims back to the bench, he seemed to have much more impact when he came on and got stuck in. To the point where he earned a spot i the 13, but he has struggled to have that impact since..

Just watched the press conference of both coaches. Fair to say that the Arthur was much more pissed then Bennett. Arthur was almost fuming. Bennett wasn't that angry at all.

Forget the 34 points, we know what the Broncos are capable of the football, conceding 30 points in the first half and then letting the Eels put on 22 in the second stanza was the headline.

It is what it is and I'm prepared to say whatever brief hope the Broncos had in 2017 is over.

That doesn't mean they'll go out in straight sets, that's for next week to decide but tonight exposed Brisbane for everything they are. They're show-ponies, not champions.
Anyone saying a win against the Cows next week gets us back on track is kidding themselves. Maybe a Cows team with JT, Cooper, etc. The current skeleton team is not in the same league as the Eels team that just gave us a bath..

I guess everyone was expecting more fight. Especially against the eels who bullied us only 4 weeks ago. No one expected us to fold and bend over the way we did. Boyd got cheap shot pushed over and he showed no mongrel at all to bite back. We looked scared and that's why people can't accept this performance.

That, and the fact our attack was slop. There is absolutely no structure - it's give the ball to Milf and hope. That's what worries me, and has all year. Our attack is pure opportunism and that just won't work against a disciplined, enthusiastic, organised defence.

What happens then is we start making mistakes, dropping the ball, throwing hail mary passes and it turns into more slop, exactly as it did tonight.

I for one am definitely not going to give up on this season. We can still win the premiership.

Fix our defence. Simples.
This is the perfect example of fans living in a fools paradise.

We don't need to fix our defense because every player knows their role within our defensive structures. They've been taught and coached that well.

What needs to be fixed is every players attitude, and that cannot be coached or taught. Each and every player has to WANT to change their attitude. We can't coach the boys desire, hunger, playing for each other, wanting it more then the opposition etc.

I'm afraid our boys just don't seem to have the right attitude consistently. When we are under the pump, when we are bullied, we crumble under pressure because our attitude is screaming out "run over me" or "i can't be fucked making this tackle" etc.

2017 is dead and gone folks. Whatever confidence we had has gone up in fucking flames. We got 50 put on us by Parra. PARRA!!!

Doesn't really matter what happens for the rest of the season.
What in ***** name are we going to do for a half next year?
I agree, Kodi is awful. He really gets exposed in these important games. A "catch and pass" man just isn't going to cut it.

Producing slop on the first tackle is unforgivable. Blair is offload happy at the moment though someone needs to be following him all night long just incase.

funny thing is, that offload goes to a Bronco who makes a break in the first seconds and we're all cheering how this new plan is working a treat...

Exactly. It was a bonehead play but it's been the broncos big issue. No one backing up the offload. Glen was in the wrong position for it

back to someones earlier comment about having a dynamic fullback/half sniffing around looking for a break and having the speed to make something happen when he sees the chance...

Sometimes, I think this Broncos outfit has a false sense of entitlement which gets exposed badly for the fantasy it is against well coached sides who believe not in some fantasy, but in themselves and each other , and then go and put that self belief into practice within well coached structures. The Storm are the best example of that, and the Eels are also starting to look the goods in this respect as well.

The Broncos need a serious reality check, particularly a number of players, Boyd being one of them.

Watching the replay Blair got absolutely smashed by 4 defenders. It was a panic offload to try get back at the hit. Eels just too powerful

Exactly. It's all about the hit and miss. But him, boyd, oats, thaiday, mead, Roberts... Ordinary tonight

Or you know he could be coached to offload in an attacking position or something... Just spitballing here. I'm sure the GcOAT is across it.

This game has exposed our deficiencies up front badly. Especially off the kick off teams can just kick it to our tiny props and just smash them from the get go. Teams like the eels and storm won't fear us at the slightest. Blair was rocked on first contact.

You can see that Brad Arthur has studied our last two games and worked out very quickly how to pull it apart. Speed, aggression and making the opponent hesitate out of fear of screwing up and making things even worse or getting hit hard when they didn't expect it.
Yes we scored over 30
Yes they scored over 50
composure and attitude was the real difference tonight
we kept trying while never really looking like we knew what to do for the whole game, not just moments of brilliance...
