Round 25 - Sea Eagles vs Broncos - Post Match Discussion

Bunch of ****ing spastics, I wont renew my membership if they're gonna keep dishing this shit up.

11 origin/international reps and team is runnin around like headless chooks

I thought Wallace was one of the few who got us into the game tonight. His positional kicks seemed to be generally good and he earned at least 1 drop out that I can think of.

There's something more going on than just the constant attacks on this player or that player. Every week we seem to be able to count on Glenn, Hodges and maybe one or two others to show something individually but the whole team is lacking focus, drive and energy. It's like they've all got the AIDS or something.

It's a cop out to say it this far away but Origin sure ****ed us up this year. I'd love to see an Origin side that doesn't rely on ripping the Broncos apart every ****ing year but while we refuse to sign established players it's going to keep happening for sure.

I hope they're looking to England for a couple of superstar backs because ours are just too slow and too up-and-down on confidence.

Not having a go at you.

IMO: That's BS.

Last week we had a 7 day turn around, Manly had 5.

Manly last week had no bench left after half time.

We should have been at least competitive.

You're probably right, That was the only excuse I could come up with.

this whole thread and how I was feeling about the game an hour or two ago, are perhaps a little over the top ... we have been spoilt with success for a very long time and struggle with mediocrity ... thats a given

but I will say this

I really really looked forward to tonights game ... it was all on the line, against a genuinely hated quality team ... i planned my life around the start of the game ... got the kids all organised ... I expected fireworks from the start ... there was none ... I'm sick of calm and collected coaches ... somebody needed to fire our boys up deluxe tonight and it didn't happen ... that was crystal clear from the first set of six

while the "Sack Griffin" thread is premature and won't happen until we are 2 from 10 next year ... questions need to be asked ... I'm gonna go looking for his presser soon ... if he gives his standard cliche's again it will be a complete joke

ordinary results call for big decisions and serious people with answers ... time to stand up hook

Oink !

He's still pretty optimistic from what I've read. Reckons we can give the finals a shake if we manage to sneak in. I'm not so sure......

Its finally here. We have had moments in the past where we have been inconsistent but we have always bounced back.

I now finally think, we are an also-ran, a mediocre team for the first time in our history.

I can't see how we can get out of it.

Thaiday is not the same player, he hasn't been since 2010.

Hoffman also, he just sucks now :(

Wallace has so many parts to his game that are awesome, but I he nor anyone in the side, knows how to manage a game.

Griffins coaching skills have been shown up. I'm def not calling for his head, but he needs an offensive coordinator, he's not any good at offensive gameplans.

You forgot to mention how f*cked SOO is and how it's cost us another premiership.........

Men versus boys out there.

We're just out of puff, physically inferior and way off the pace. A lot of this I feel has to do with confidence but even then Manly would have been hard to contain in that opening 40. Credit to them, it was one of the best 40 minutes I've seen this season.

Like Pigskin I'm bitterly disappointed. All week (hell, probably since we lost to the Raiders) I've been looking forward to this game as I saw it as a test of character and to put in such a flat performance was just heartbreaking. It's been a tough season to take, even when we were firmly entrenched at the top of the table I still had issues with the team...but yeah, just very disappointing all round.

Hard to find many positives because it was clear Manly put the foot off the accelerator come the second half. I thought Hodges + Reed were once again quite good. Contained fairly easily but they came up with some good defensive efforts of their own and backed themselves which is more you can say about the other players. Rest? Eh...think it'd be best just to forget about that game.

Our forward pack won us pretty much every game in the first half of the season. Just completely dominated field position, and we pretty much set up camps in the opposition halves for whole games. But now that the pack is underperforming and not dominating as much as they used to, our "spine" just wasn't good enough to make the most of it. It didn't help that neither Hodges nor Reed know how to hit holes at all either, I guess.

Hodges was on our best again. He's one of the few... Actually scratch that, the only person in this team that looks dangerous.

All season?

You didn't say that.

Realistically, they haven't been presented with many all season & when they have been, they've taken them. In fairness, Hodges rarely puts himself into position for them as he usually takes a 5th tackle scurry from dummy half.

I was with you up until you mentioned Hodges. There's precious few others out there who look dangerous with the ball. Having said that he did have a few meh moments tonight... and still managed to be the most dangerous.

Playing the likes of Thaiday, Hannant and Parker when they're seemingly half injured has been a bad idea for weeks now but we keep doing it.

Wish we'd buy some players.

Oh, there's no doubt Hodges is a very damaging player. Most damaging in our side for sure. But he and Reed are the sort of players whose main method of attack is - when there's an overlap, they receive the ball and the defence is confused about who to go for. Sometimes even when there's no overlap, they can still come up with something... but for that to be an effective scenario, you really need your halves to come up with ways to isolate defenders and to draw them in and what not, then give them early ball and let them work their magic. Lockyer was a master of that. Our current halves aren't exactly the creative type though, I think they would benefit more from players who can hit a hole, while they try to exploit that with their running games...

I still maintain that Griffin coaches heavily on a defensive strategy.

we can hold teams for the longest time, yet when we get the ball we don't have the creativity to challenge their defensive line, and then get frustrated and our own defense starts to break down.

We need so much more variety in our attack it's not funny.

Schoolboy sides could read our plays like a book.

I still think, with the players we have, we can trouble/beat most sides in this comp .....

... we just need to learn how to attack again !!!

I can understand the disappointment being expressed in this thread. I honestly ddin't think we were a chance of making the 8 this season and I think we have overperformed for the majority of the season. I, like everyone else, got super excited when we were sitting pretty at the top of the table, but let's be honest we lack that game controller we had when we had Locky last year. I was disappointed to see last night that Wallace got his hands on the ball more than Hunt did last night. Wallace killed a lot of plays.
