Round 26 Broncos vs Storm - Pre Game Discussion

Lowrie should take this opportunity and have the game of his life.

It deserved a penalty, nothing more, hopefully some good of it will come and the team will use it as extra motivation.

I don't think he's a massive loss. For every good run it effort in defence that he contributes, there's an error in the play the ball or a crucial penalty.

That said, at no point did he adjust his angle or technique to contribute to a crusher. It was called a penalty, yet not on report. Yet Luke gets off for kicking Ennis in the face (despite the latter playing it up) on the grounds he "feared for his safety"?

Lame.

Did Ennis get charged for his tackle on Luke that saw Luke 'kick out'? That was far worse.

So who will play lock? I'd just move McGuire there, and start Hannant/Kennedy.

Nevermind, I'm a dumbass. Parker to lock.

Nah your not a dumbass Alec I think you just got used to Parker playing prop so much this season. Mcguire and Hannant starting, Parker at lock. Rotation will be important, Wallace and Oates will need to see more game time.

The silver lining in this cloud is that Oates must get more minutes, and I hope Hunt and Barba give him some great holes to sprint through. He'll kill 'em.

Oh, and I hope he "kills" Cronk too, a la Idris.

C'mon Corey!

Hopefully Oates makes the most of it.

I was very disappointed in his efforts on Friday.

He didn't look well. It was like he felt a sense of solidarity with his fellow 20s and played accordingly.

Well BP, I am counting on a huge game from Corey given Thaiday's suspension. We really need it

I don't really remember Oates game last week; thought he came on and played prop while Gillett was in the bin so we had better lateral defence but don't remember him actually doing anything.

All I remember is a lethargic run or two and him struggling in defence.

That was then.

This is now and I'm completely with rna. I hope he can repeat his R26 heroics from last season and remind people of who he is.

thats just what i find ridiculous. ennis clearly got him into a position and started to apply pressure. im fine with luke getting off to be honest, but ennis should of got two weeks minimum for what he was doing.

well. i've reserved myself to the fact the refs will do everything they can to get us out of the finals and the eels in. i usually try to avoid buying into the whole 'refs against us' thing but im expecting it now.

I definitely think Luke deserves to play next week. You can't expect him to just accept the fact that his knees were tapping him in the forehead, without applying some resistance.

Thaiday should be playing too, not much he could've done in his position. Maybe we should just ban all tackles above the waste.

To put this down to a conspiracy against the Broncos is a bit much. I think the refs /judiciary are more incompetent than corrupt. They have been pretty evenly appalling though we tend to notice the mistakes against us more.

I honestly think they have no idea.

Edit: The refs favouring the eels over us is hilarious. Besides the fact the eels cop bad decisions weekly, it makes zero scence from a marketing point of view (assuming that's the reason you're suggesting). The broncos draw way bigger crowds/audiences and QLD supporters of any team (tits, Bronx, cowboys) will tune in and cheer them on. Just like any nsw fan will tune in to hope they lose.

Watching it live it seemed an age since the referee called held and Ennis getting kicked. If he'd released when he was told to it would not have happened. I was waiting for a penalty the other way but that changed when Luke kicked out.

I do wonder how he will handle this game.

He has never been in this situation before, well not at this level.

Going up against Storm in Melbourne in a do or die game, I just hope the pressure doesn't get to him and he has a big game.
