Round 3 - Broncos v Roosters - Post Match Discussion

Didn't unfold as planned but I was impressed with Hunt when the Broncos were in front with 8 to go, he was in charge, he got the guys together on halfway and dominated the instructions.

Were you close to the action down there mate? Could you hear what he was saying?

Agreed.

I just watched the replay and Hunt was certainly doing a lot of organising behind play.

Let's hope this confidence inspires him to greater things next weekend :)

OK I've calmed down.

Happy with the effort, the boys can be proud. We gained a lot from last night, besides the 2 points.

SKD is Steve Renouf when playing against us. He has scored around 432432443 tries against us.

Hunt had some good kicks last night.

We still don't have good attack. teams know our only move (2 out the back passes). We need an offensive coordinator.

Yeah, our attack does lack some variety, it's almost always the second man play in the opposition red zone. We should be using Glenn or Gillett as hole runners more, they are very damaging at that. Then it could allow Hunt to go down the blind/short side the next play, which is the one area he is consistently good at.

There has been much said about Parker's goal kicking but he should be cut some slack. When you consider he has been playing frontrow and getting belted it's little wonder his coordination during kicking is affected. I am also of the belief that Hoffman is not the man for the job. Like lots of others I'd like to see Barba or someone else have a shot at the job although having said that I am prepared to see how Hoffman improves over the next three or four games. If we still continue to be pedestrian then change must happen.

I'm almost at the stage of wanting a specialist goal kicker in the team, who cares if they're slow, S.O.S De Vere.

Was thinking this during the Rabbits game. I don't think we'd say no to Adam Reynolds at this point for the purpose of goal kicking and a few kicks during a game. Hoffman playing centre where he could still play the same role he's playing now and drop Reed to Qcup.

Yeah, would be good. I remember a game though (I think it was a semifinal Bears vs Penrith) where Darryl Halligan had a shocker kicking 1 or 2 from about 5, with most being relatively easy shots from in front. Would of been the Bears first Grand Final appearance since the 1920s. Poor b@stards.

yet the roosters halves won them the game.

Mitchel Pearce, the NSW Halfback, was comfortably outplayed by Ben Hunt, a relative rookie. Hunt also ran over and around Pearce on more than one occasion, one of those occasions leading to a Ben Hunt try.

Maybe Corey Parker will be dropped once he reaches 1000 career points, because let's face it, he isn't going to get there with tries.

There is no worse feeling than walking over to the computer with a grin ear to ear after we went 8 up with 5 to go, all happy to read everyone reports (delayed telecast) and logging on to bhq post report and the first word is bugger. My heart stopped.

Still furious about the Roosters' penalties. The NRL need to crack down on it because it has been a deliberate ploy for 2 years now. Their reasoning would be that they are actually getting penalised, so are being punished on the field. But how is deliberately giving penalties to allow them to set their defence any different to someone hanging on to the legs of a runner who just made a long break in order to give your team time to get back on-side? IMO they're both deliberate infractions and should result in send-offs. Sour grapes I know but it's not like people don't know it's going on.
