That’s Klein’s horribleness right there. Benji knocks on, he goes to put his whistle in his mouth and then thinks, “You know what? That didn’t go forwards at all.”
Seemed to be a lot of that from Klein. Dreadful display.

The way I like to approach contentious decisions is to put the shoe on the other foot.

Would you have been ok if that was a tigers player, clearly knocking the ball on, be awarded the try?

Actually yes I would

Well hopefully the heat is off tpj for a while and he can re focus his game. Sign a new deal with the broncos and we all live happily ever after.

Read the fine print of the downward pressure ruling.

It clearly explains why it isn't a try.
The problem with that is it comes down to interpretation. If Birds was given on field try it would have been awarded.

My thoughts on some of the players:

Boyd - another let down of a game. I hope he recovers soon.
Isaako - He reminds me of Kahu, only with unfucked legs. What a gun.
Bird - Looks like he took all the Milford is fat jokes...and ate them. Holy ****. Unhappy night with the ball in his hands, but I really liked his defence.
Opacic - Definitely not a winger, but did OK.
Milford - Where was the running game from last week? Not a game manager.
Kodi - Good linebreak, but what the hell was he thinking with his pass? Not a game manager, awful kicking game, needs to start trying more.

Lodge - Good game, just wish he tried to hold the ball more.
Glenn - Was pretty great, kept poking his head through with his runs.
McGuire - Fucking immense, just needs to get out of first receiver. McCullough needs to stop passing to him like that
Ofahengaue - Good performance off the bench.
Sims - One of his best games. Was fucking immense too.

So my top 3 would be - Isaako, Sims and McGuire. No particular order.

Take the two and try to forget about the game all together
That’s the best you can do after that game
Agree with this but Kodi will get better even though he aint showing much at the mo.... stage fright, but I do remember a young fella who looked very nervous and a bit lost sometimes when it was his first season with the number seven for the broncos on his back. He turned out to be pretty handy once his confidence cemented... Kodi is no alf at the mo but I really do believe he has it in him to be a real sneaky little bastard for us. Just needs more game time IMO. We have had plenty of shit decisions go against us so maybe got one back. Happy to get the 2.

For the ball to be deemed grounded, pressure must be applied by the player’s fingers, hand, wrist, forearm or torso so as to create a reasonable influence on the plane of the ball including the spin, rotation, momentum or bounce.

Interpretation? How? None of that happens.

That rule says it's no try.

Easy. Tagataese.

I imagine Pearson will come in. Although, Opacic has shown he can be quite handy on the wing.

Yeah it could go either way, Pearson is probably the more specialist winger but his transition from lower grade to NRL has been a mixed bag, Opacic hasn't been explosive but I tend to find him more consistent when he has played. I'd be happy with either.

Any halfbacks coming off contract at the end of 2018 of worth?

Sezer. I really think we have to go for him, at least until Paix or whoever matures. Some people might say - oh, he's overrated. Well I agree, but I don't think this combination will work out, and we need someone.

So where is the line? It's either down pressure or it's a certain amount of downward pressure which is measured how , and by who?

Kodi isn't close to Alf, even prior to his time started at the Broncos he was already a regular in the brisbane competition for ipswich and had made the Queensland side. There was some doubt he would make it cause of his size, but he had plenty of ball skills and natural ability that Kodi lacks at a similar age and I doubt will ever even have. Broncos have a long history of halfbacks who have failed to make the step up and I rate a lot them higher then Kodi.

If we lose because of a penalty like that, I’d be dirty - so I can certainly understand the controversy over it.
However, 2 things I noticed:
- Johns, Fittler and co. after the game peacocking around about how they understand and can accept penalties for offside when on the try line but not elsewhere.
Uhhm no. The same rules apply on every blade of grass on the ~ 7000m2 field.
- Cleary after the game stating that historically penalties aren’t given in golden point and as such, that wasn’t a penalty. Whilst that might be the case, that pretty much says to me that you were going to push the boundaries without fear of reprieve for breaking the rules - guess that didn’t work out this time, did it.
Otherwise, a draw was a more fitting result for what was a pretty ordinary game from both sides.
But if I was to polish a turd; they did beat the Roosters and Storm back to back in a similar fashion, which makes our victory seem less unimpressive.

Let's face it. If Klein had awarded the Tigers that same penalty everyone on here, including myself, would be blowing up deluxe.
