Round 4 - Broncos v Dragons - Pre Game Discussion

Judging by what I'm watching right now, we're going to belt them. They're only leading by 2 against a pretty average Sharks side.

Isn't Kahu meant to comeback for this game? If so does Hoffman go to the wing and him to 5/8?

I don't believe Kahu is due back until Round 8.

Good question re : Kahu.

Thinking that we should win this provided we turn up with the same intensity we did against the Chooks.

As noted, Widdop is really their danger man. Morris can be dangerous with space to work with but confident we can limit his opportunities.

Forward pack is pretty ordinary. If we can have the Roosters back pedalling, then we should steam roll them. Hopefully Hunt and Macca cash create plenty of opportunities off the back of that.

It all comes down to attitude. Hoping we see them with their heads screwed on and a ruthless attitude. Come on with a sense of entitlement, and we invite them into the game.

Dugan is still out right?

Dugan isn't due back til Round 5, but that was the initial prognosis. I haven't heard anything that has changed that, but who knows.

Who cares if Dugan is rushed back. Barba will run rings around him. As Towely said, this game will be won in the forwards. Our guys are going to massacre them, especially with McG and Hannant returning (well maybe not Hannant).

I hope Griffin finds space for Hala on the bench because he needs more time to develop.

I'd go:

1. Barba
2. Vidot
3. Oates
4. Copley
5. Maranta
6. Hoffman
7. Hunt
8. Kennedy
9. Macca
10. McGuire
11. Gillett
12. Thaiday
13. Parker

14. Glenn
15. Hannant
16. Hala
17. Reed

Corey Oates needs way more time off the bench, he could have real impact on a game.

Very confident about winning this. The Dragons may have won their first 3 games but they have had an easier draw and haven't beaten us since 2010.

Barba (unlike Milford) hasn't rung rings around anyone yet. Maybe this time.

I agree Oates looked promising in his comeback. I also agree , who cares about Dugan, pierce. SBW . Foran ,thruston or anyone else.
this side has the makings of a good team, and the encouraging thing is we seem to have so much obvious improvement let to go.

Perfect time to point out the similarities between the Broncos and the Dragons (and the Tigers) over the last couple of years..

2011: Broncos 3rd, Tigers 4th, Dragons 5th
2012: Broncos 8th, Dragons 9th, Tigers 10th
2013: Broncos 12th, Dragons 14th, Tigers 15th

3 maligned coaches (Griffin 2011, Price 2012, Potter 2013) seemingly coming good must be the planets aligning

Same intensity as Friday night and we should lap them, or at least that's what i'm hoping for.

I just wanna see us turn up again like we did last game :takdir:

Please enlighten me.

Why did RTS and SKD score? Was it brilliant creative play by the chooks, or lousy one-on-one defence AND no one coming across in cover having NOT seen the bloody obvious play that was about to happen?

Cordner's try... a classic chooks set play with Pearce. Yes, we were tired, but Cordner, like SBW, ought to be a WARNING WARNING sign with a top defender ALWAYS on either close to our line and NO HOLES for them to run through.

Tiredness is no excuse. It was poor defensive structure and weak one-on-one defence that cost us that game.

Widdop is a specialist going out wide both with a terrific passing and kicking game, especially to Morris. That is where they score their points. That is where we need to focus our wide defence.

I hope Vidot marks Morris

We'll have to make sure to wrap up the ball in the tackles. the Dragons don't have much in attack even if Widdop plays out of his skin but their forwards do love to free the arms and offload like maniacs, which can always cause some hassles.
