Round 5 - Titans vs. Broncos - Pre Match Discussion

There's recruiting the odd player to fill a position.

Then there's spending an exorbitant amount of money on representative heroes like Jamal Idris & Dave Taylor to fix your problems.

Mind you, I'd argue their decision to resign players long term has been a major pitfall. They're paying us to play Scott Prince (on Friday this could work out for them, heh) and Will Zillman of all people is locked up for another 4 years.

So keen to see the big man back. Hala!

The Titans are looking pretty strong this year. Idris is looking like finally doing something for the first time since 2010. For a man his size he should be just dominating all day. If Hodgo is a late withdrawal again, Maranta, Kahu, Gillett and Prince on Idris and Taylor. **** me.

They have probably the best pack on paper (Myles, Snowden, Bird, Taylor, Harrison, and James is firing) in the competition and their rookie halves are actually cherishing the opportunity to play first grade.

I think they will continue the Broncos pain.

Paying a large amount to recruit players to fix your probems is a smart idea, not sure what the problem is. It's working for them so far.

By Snowden, do mean Douglas?

I'm actually pretty optimistic about our chances in this game.

We showed great signs during the Storm game. If we can show that kind of ticker again we'll give the Tites a real fright.

Just need to get some Harmichael about them

Just got flicked a couple of corporate box spots for this game. Wish we were playing better for it. Still think we can get the better of the tits. Just can't give em a head start.

Anderson in for Thaiday.

I hope he's up for it.

Very tough ask for us this week. I'll be reasonably happy if we don't get smashed TBH.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Hala handles it back in the top grade :)

I reckon they'll be fired up after Thaiday's suspension, Broncos by 12.

I'm thinking they'll fire up as well ...... expect a good effort from the guys.

yeah, we'll be right. could go either way, but i reckon we'll get em.

I hope our right side defence is up to for it. This means no jersey grabbing by Hodges, no awful reads from Gillett and at least a decent performance by Prince. Also hope that just because Hodges is back, it doesn't mean that we stop attacking to the left.

The way our season is going at the moment, we are more like the Bunnies of old...which team is going to turn up on the night. The Titans defense is one of the best so far but we did put some points on the premiers so hopefully that carries over. It is our off game as the season goes but we need to break this and start a run. Anderson to have another big game run on and with Hala on the bench will provide some mongrel runs when he gets on. Hope and pray that Prince lifts dramatically for this game and that Bird, Idris and Taylor all have off nights. We can do this.....Go the Broncos!!

With Sammy out, I just don't think we'll have the go forward to create opportunities.

The Broncos biggest problem for mine this season has been the performance of the pack. Considering all the money we've poured into them, they're simply not doing enough in the ruck to give our halves the chances they need to create. I believe we've looked our best when we've played off the back of Thaiday, Hannant, Glenn, Sanderson & Parker yet too often the boys seem to panic and try and spin it out wide because they don't have the patience to test sides through the middle.

Sanderson's inclusion into the starting line-up is well deserved. I'm (I'll fight you for it ning and GC) his biggest critic on here but he's been really effective carting the ball up through the middle and I believe he's made a positive contribution everytime he's come on. I went back to watch the Roosters game (because I'm a fool) and there was a passage when he just came on (around the 20 minute mark) where we looked our most dangerous. We should have scored that set...if only Norman and Prince had of timed their combination better...but I digress. The point I'm making with Sanderson is that I believe he's played so well I would have started him regardless of Sam's suspension and would have dropped Gillett to the bench where I feel like he's most effective.

Really hope the bench stands up tomorrow. Don't have a lot of faith in Lui but I hope Hala & Slyney can step up and really challenge Stagg for his spot in the side.
