PRE-GAME Round 6 - Broncos vs Roosters

The guys will go into this game knowing that if they can jag a win, they secure a spot in the top 4 for the foreseeable future and will even keep us in touch with Souffs at the top. They'll be up for this

I saw Lockyer on the Sunday footy show and he said Hodges told him he would not be there until round 7

Well that's pretty accurate with what I said.. possible for Round 6, will definitely be back by Round 7 at the latest.

Maloney had a shocker today, blew several opportunities. Unfortunately I can't see him maintaining that shittiness for another week.

If JWH and Guerra are out that's a huge plus for us.

From what I've heard, JWH is likely to miss this game.

Had a problem with the calf at training and is likely to be out for another 2-3 weeks.

Ffs, just because it was the Sharks that triumphed does not mean the Roosters were bad. The Sharks had nothing to show after four rounds but realistically should have been 2 n 2 prior to the match. They have been good in patches and perfectly capable of beating any other team on the day. That day is when you get more right than wrong. In some ways their form has been like our own, dour defence and moderate attack. We only managed to put 10 points on them so they can defend as they did today. This competition is closer than some think. The Sharks were simply too good and only allowed the Roosters to be as good as they were.

We most certainly will have to be on our game but if we take our current mindset into the game we will start, deservedly so,as favourites.

The Roosters stunk up the place.......and even then, if barba had of been playing instead of young Bird, the Sharks would have been unlikely to win and no doubt would have kept their pathetic 2015 losing record in tact.

There's a reason they were 0/4...they're a shit side.

That said, the Roosters record this year is a little inflated compared to how actually well they've been playing. I don't hold any fear for them from what I've seen and expect we'll take the points this week by 10+

That nullifies their effect up front. If we were ever gonna beat the Rorters this year, this weekend is the time to do it

Of course by the stunningly incisive reasoning you have employed we can deduce that although they are 'a shit side' they are certainly much better than The Titans, Manly and The North Queensland Cowboys. Of the three, not one have have scored as many points and all have conceded many more points so I guess those three teams are much much shittier, there's a reason that those teams are 1/5...they are all shit teams, right ?

Um, yes? The Titans, Cowboys and Manly have been shit teams this year. As have the Sharks.

Yes.

Was just @ broncos training. Listening to press conference they said Hodges and Blair are MAYBE and Kahu OUT.

Talked to Darius he said he is fair way off but the trainer said he ahead of schedule just at the gaining confidence stage. Looked like he was running very freely.

Seems about right, I'm guessing they'll give Kahu 2-3 weeks off like they did for Copley & Dodds when they got strains earlier in the season.

I really hope Hodges doesn't rush back, I'd rather him take an extra week or two to get 100%

Thanks for the update. Good to know.

I'd rather they managed Hodges and Kahu carefully. Given their respective histories, I'd rather both were 100% before their return, though we will definitely miss their presence.

Blair would be an asset against the Chooks, I think he's been pretty good at winning the tackle and slowing the play the ball. Hopefully Friend doesn't make a return. With JWH and Guerra both potentially out, our chances are looking better than expected.

Don't forget Ferguson won't be playing and likely Jennings could miss a week or two.

Please don't comment if you didn't actually watch the game. . I hope you did. Because the roosters were very lazy

NRL judiciary comes down hard on Canterbury Bulldogs James Graham, David Klemmer, Michael Lichaa and Sam Kasiano

Other players facing one game bans include Canberra's Jordan Rapana for a careless high tackle on Manly forward Jamie Buhrer and Roosters forward Aidan Guerra for a dangerous throw on Cronulla forward Chris Heighington.

Roosters centre Michael Jennings will not miss a game with an early guilty plea for his grade one careless high tackle on Sharks veteran Luke Lewis.

So Guerra's out through suspension, not that it makes much difference with his broken jaw, and Jennings just survives. Hopefully he'll be sent off five minutes in.

Copley vs Jennings.

That will be an interesting clash..

Justin Hodges, Adam Blair in line for returns against Roosters

STAR Broncos centre Justin Hodges is a good chance of returning from a hamstring injury aweek early and facing the Sydney Roosters this Friday.
Hodges completed light training at Red Hill this morning and it understood that if he pulls up well from the session he will take the field at Suncorp Stadium.

Adam Blair is also odds on to return from injury for the Roosters match.

Hodges does have a long history of hamstring battles but this was only a grade one tear.

Initially he was thought to be out for two to three weeks but he has recovered well since tearing the hamstring against the New Zealand Warriors in round four.

Blair also copped a corked thigh in the win over the Warriors but while he didn’t train this morning, he is expected to do a full session this week.

Darius Boyd also ran at the Broncos training session this morning but is still weeks away from playing.

The Broncos have won four games in a row while the Roosters are coming off a shock loss to Cronulla on Sunday.
