PRE-GAME Round 6 - Broncos vs Roosters

To pull up a bit of history of clashes between these two clubs.

The Roosters have played the Broncos the following week after playing the Sharks 5 times.

They have won 3 out of those 5 games.

The last time they lost to the Sharks and Broncos in consecutive weeks was 1990.

However, the Roosters have never lost to the Broncos in Brisbane the following week after losing to the Sharks.

They have come up to Brisbane after a loss twice and won both of those games.

Will it be 3rd time lucky for the Broncos? Let's bloody hope so because I'm getting sick of losing to them.

I'm looking forward to see the lineup today. It will be interesting. In my opinion vidot should not be in the team, if he axes thaiday to the bench after one go.. I think that is the last game we'll see vidot play this year. I hope to see!

1. Hodges
2. Maranta
3. Copley
4. Oates
5. Drew/Opacic/Byrnes or Anderson

But what we will get:

1. Maranta
2. Reed
3. Hodges
4. Copley
5. Oates

I really don't want reed in the side anymore, he's lost it.. He needs to go to England, maybe rejuvenate his career.

Ffs, just because it was the Sharks that triumphed does not mean the Roosters were bad. The Sharks had nothing to show after four rounds but realistically should have been 2 n 2 prior to the match. They have been good in patches and perfectly capable of beating any other team on the day. That day is when you get more right than wrong. In some ways their form has been like our own, dour defence and moderate attack. We only managed to put 10 points on them so they can defend as they did today. This competition is closer than some think. The Sharks were simply too good and only allowed the Roosters to be as good as they were.

We most certainly will have to be on our game but if we take our current mindset into the game we will start, deservedly so,as favourites.

Jack Bird - he's a talent. That try to ice the game took some balls (and sheer ability) and he executed it perfectly in tough circumstances.

We have been great in defence and "lucky" in attack for the past 3 weeks. We have had the rub of the green with a few refereeing decisions. Marginally, but it has helped us get off to a good start (12+) for three weeks in a row.

Roosters won't let us have that and I can't see us creating many opportunities unless Glenn and Milford are working the edges or Hunt sticks his head through.

Hodges would be a massive bonus. I'd actually be really happy with:

1. Maranta
2. Oates
3. Reed
4. Hodges
5. Copley

With Hodges shuffling to the back for the second man play on the line

Agreed, if I was Flanagan i'd be putting Barba on the bench, Bird was great against the Roosters.

Big test for us, but if we continue to defend as we have the past few games, this is another one where we can grind it out.

Good test for Maranta too as you'd expect a lot of high balls to come his way (either at FB or on the wing).

If Hodges returns, i fear Reed will still survive.

The Roosters are experts at composing themselves in defence. It's why they give away so many deliberate penalties (which astounds me why the never get players sent off, as it's deliberate foul play). Any team struggles when on the back foot, so they give penalties in order to get time to reset, and they back themselves to defend back-to-back sets as long as they can remain composed and fresh.

In saying that, if Hodges is back we have some awesome unpredictability and firepower in attack. I really, really hope Reed doesn't keep Copley out of the centres, because with both Hodges & Milford given license to roam, there are some really good opportunities to stretch the Roosters' defence. If we're able to draw defenders to one side, imagine the potency of a Hunt to McGuire, back to Hunt with a runaround, with both Milford and Hodges running off him?

It's also in attack. There's no panic that they need points. They just go out there and build pressure, roll up field then casually go their guns.

Is there any player in our team that even comes close to that explosiveness from RTS yesterday? That was insane.

(Bit of an RTS fanboy because he's in my Supercoach team).

Who are you, David Middleton?

The Courier Mail are saying that Jake Friend could return this week. Good for my SVRL team, not so good for the Broncos

Chances are Vidot will be dropped if Hodgo comes back. Wish it was Reed...
