exactly we don't know so why is your opinion the right one ?
Billy was bought as a utility, he's in the 9 because of injury
Are you suggesting Kevie has no responsibility for Billy playing 9? That's my entire point, you keep trying to take it down other tangents.

Signing Billy isn’t the reason for our recent struggles.
Not signing Billy wouldn’t have put us in a better position this year.
There was no alternative signing of any undeniable value available who we missed out on due to signing Billy.
It’s a non issue. He’s here now for a year and he’s been a useful member of the team who has done some good and some bad but isn’t and shouldn’t be in our long term plans… not sure what else there is to analyse.

Billy has been a mainstay of the team since the trials. He's got into that position not because he's a super versatile sub, but because somehow we entered yet another season with a cobbled together broken spine. Asking who else we could've bought isn't the point. More like why has the club once again put itself in this position? We have massive development pathways and the best facilities in the league.

Kevvie had a free pass last year. This is the year we judge him. It's fair to judge that his mediocre talent son has now become entrenched in our spine, and this week in a position he doesn't even want to play. Simply because our main hooker is out. One that the majority appear to think isn't even NRL standard himself.

As I've said before, it's not a question of nepotism. That fire can't be put out. His son already has the job. These are the cards Kevvie dealt himself.

not at all i agreed with you straight away, I'm arguing that the signing of billy isn't detrimental to our success or lack there of.

Funny how everyones getting ansty about one of the few areas where we actually have some depth.

If you want to throw shade at the club and management start with fullback.

What level of stress testing did we do that resulted in the club loaning out 2 players who could have played there for emergency depth, Isaako and Arthurs, and instead decide its fine to run with...TMM...as Nius' backup should the worst happen?

Who, incicentally , was asked to play 5/8th for Q-cup cause....hes a depth signing FOR 5/8th...

He did want to stay in Australia but the Broncos never offered him a contract,, likely because we signed Billy.

What an upgrade.

BHQ changed their opinion of Levi every damn week. ranging from he's a useless **** who we never sould have signed ... all the way to he's a must re-sign

i could almost guarantee the Huddersfield offer was bigger and it's not like levi is a weapon he's depth, and he can't play 6 .
Ofcourse it will be more but it also means he needs to move to the otherside of the world(and it's not like it would be a record breaking contract or anything it was that or nothing), and as stated before we didn't need a 6, we definitely needed a 9 and he was our best option, Billy isn't our best option in any position he plays.

Under no circumstances was the signing needed.

At the start it was like that, once he was established in the team it was clear he was an upgrade.

so how is it not about asking who we could've signed ?
paix is from our pathways and someone who has inside knowledge has stated he is our 9 moving forward, he is just getting slowly pushed in.
Anyway it's round 9 and with injuries to turpin and kelly and form issues to paix and Gamble Billy is in , until form and injuries are a non issue and Billy is still there i really don't see an issue.

Great run down here from our RLW friends on Reynolds new role with the club.

Did you know he's already made the same try assist for Brisbane in 7 rounds as he did all last year for Souths?

Hes definately taken a more play-making role with us.

not saying that he is and I'd much prefer someone like Hynes or Drinkwater as an option , but that isn't reality and that isn’t Kevvie's fault blame that on the board of yesteryear.

Not too different with Billy, after the first trial I think it was, people were saying the 6 jersey was his to lose, even after a couple of NRL games they were saying that but then things eventuated and he wasn't as damaging anymore and suddenly the club should never have signed him

It's like that for most players in our team actually, only Payne Haas and Reynolds seem to be exempt from such criticism

So far, just wait, it will happen.

Both of those players would be considerably more expensive then Levi so it's irrelevant to bring them up.

Heres a nice example.

Good ruck speed from Kobe and Reynolds comes across open side where we have a 7 v 5 set-up.

Billy didnt count the numbers though and ran through a gap at marker.

Then the chip & chase try - note Kennedys very quick play the ball. A small thing but something he is improving apparently.

Then theres the line breaking pass from Kobe (thats what you want from your lock) which breaks the defence line. You can see on the wide angle shot not a single Dogs player was on the defensive line - they are still all running on-side.

Then a brilliant chip and chase (anyone spot where Dufty is here?)

Reyno-early-kick-Cobbo-2nd-try.gif

There is some variety in these plays ive not seen before from us, and id say its down to our number 7. He had a good long look at what was on offer during the first half and then organised and steered his forwards where he wanted them for maximum effect.

Shout out to Kobe and Kennedy though; they did some little things in this win that added up to a lot.

Love the snippets and you're right, although Reynolds is the one putting on the plays and getting the credit he's just reacting to what happens before him (whether it be a line break, fast play the ball, etc).

ok so you definitely know that the reason for him leaving was because of broncos not offering a contract ? i mentioned them because McHunt did
