How long does Paix have to wait until walters realises he's the best hooker at the club?

what makes you think he hasn't.

Paix played 49 minutes last week. looks like to used Billy to take the sting out of the defense before bring Paix into the game.

it would be extremely rare for a hooker to go from QLD Cup to playing 80 minutes in the NRL. I'd expect that over the next few weeks, Kevvie will increase Paix minutes

We did this play heaps of times over the last few years. We should do it at least once a game.
Difference this year was how far he ran - and he actually looked fast on the way through. Previous time he was already on the 3/4 mark so had less to run.

Last week it was truly glorious how far he ran and how they didn't see it coming.

Walters best start the game better than last week. We were a completely different team once Paix was on.
When Walters is on though, he can play some OK footy.

so how is it not about asking who we could've signed ?
paix is from our pathways and someone who has inside knowledge has stated he is our 9 moving forward, he is just getting slowly pushed in.
Anyway it's round 9 and with injuries to turpin and kelly and form issues to paix and Gamble Billy is in , until form and injuries are a non issue and Billy is still there i really don't see an issue.
How can Paix be judged as a form issue player if he hasn't seen more than 20 minutes on the field before last week? He showed so far when he gets decent time he has the potential and I believe he will be the surprise packet for the year if he can get 40 minutes plus a game.

I keep saying saying it’s not my job to find us an NRL standard spine. We don’t have one, doesn’t matter that Billy is cheap. Your spine isn’t meant to be cheap. It’s what wins you games. It’s where you pack your stars.

Gamble, Turpin, Kelly, Walters, Niu, Paix. Sure you can get through games with one or two of them, but when you’re taking about basing your attack around Walters at 6, **** me dead. These ***** are wasting a year of our lives. And make no mistake, Walters is our 6.

Just watched the replay, Walters gave away penalties, interrupted the attack, particularly on the end of sets and while he had a few half decent darts out of dummy half and a kick or 2, we looked immediately better in attack once Paix came on.

If Kev actually saw any of this game (unlike the Warriors one apparently…) he must have seen how much we improved with Paix at number 9…

First stint to Billy to tighten up the middle and then inject Paix to get our attack working seems to be the best game plan for us, atm with respect to number 9…

I thought TMM had a solid game, but he is a 5/8 not a fullback. I don’t love Niu, but with Nui at the back, TMM and Reynolds in the halves and Paix at 9, I think we have a respectable spine this season…

Now if we could put Walsh at no.1 next season…

Not too different with Billy, after the first trial I think it was, people were saying the 6 jersey was his to lose, even after a couple of NRL games they were saying that but then things eventuated and he wasn't as damaging anymore and suddenly the club should never have signed him

It's like that for most players in our team actually, only Payne Haas and Reynolds seem to be exempt from such criticism
That is likely because playing well seems to reduce the amount of criticism players cop, for some strange reason…

Agreed, as long as we aren't digging ourselves out of a whole each week. We can't be lacklustre in attack for 25 minutes and pray we catch up over 55.

Sharks scored 32 points in the first half last week.

We need our best hooker to start.

Two things:

1. I am glad Walters gets another shot - it provides confidence to players that if they screw up, they get another shot for redemption

2. Gamble needs to target Ramien, they guy is easy to rile up and easily will do stupid things when riled up.

like i mentioned before he isn't an 80 minute player, his form drops if he plays 80 .

All this talk about the number 9 jumper and people wanting Turpin back, yet we won last week (and won by quite a bit). However shitty we looked in periods of the game, we still won. Would we have won by 20 points if Turpin played?

I for one hope Billy and Paix smash it this week and we don't see Turpin again until he runs out in a Dolphins jersey next year to derp it up against us.

We were terrible until Billy went off. Not saying it was solely his fault but I’m not sure we can thank his efforts for the win.
