I think you have to give it a bit more time to see how he goes over the course of a year.So what happens if he sucks tonight? We should not be re-signing anyone on big/inflated on worth money after one game. A one year deal allows us to keep him but also provides him incentive to back up. We can always re-address if he keeps his form up and then replace a one year deal with an upgraded two year one. My point is, if he ends up being on minimum wage and playing like a 3-400k or more player, that's good business.
He's one game in after 3 years off.
You have to check how he goes mentally as well.
Does he start to get back into the groove and feeling comfortable with his game and taking contact.
I feel it ends up being a similar approach we had with Albert last year.
We gave him a T&T he got some games and was looking like a potential starting option for us... gave him a 1yr about 3/4 through the season and if he was looking good again this year then you start having the conversation about longer deals.
The club and coaches also need to be confident that he has fully recovered from his layoff and how he holds up over a full NRL season.
