POST GAME [Round 8, 2022] Broncos vs Sharks

I know I'm going to sound like a sore winner (and a broken record), but I felt that our ability to play the full 80 last night had a lot to do with not being penalised / 6-again'd out of the contest. I was only half-watching on my phone while working but whenever there was an error or infraction it seemed like we got at least a fair number of calls, and in the times we were muscling up in defence we weren't phantom penalised for the tiniest things (that the opposition was getting away with). It allowed us to keep the pressure on them and therefore come out on top in the fatigue stakes.
Yes, our discipline and our fitness has massive improved. It's one of the main things Kevvie has instilled in the team. Getting caught too many times with 6-again is a sign of a poorly drilled, unfit team. You can either take the whinger's way and blame the refs or you can clean up your act. I'm glad we've gone the latter route.

The media hyped this so hard, but Talakai isn't in the same league as Staggs.

I have some criticisms of Staggs but he's shown he is a big game player, he took the challenge on and absolutely stomped him. I'd love to see him in origin but I can't imagine he'll make it as Freddy will pick 5 fullbacks in the backline again.

Elite.

Reynolds gushed about him in the presser. Says we only notice his flashy plays but not all the little stuff he does in the background. His defence was phenomenal last night.

He'll be in the Blue's team. He's the form centre of the competition. Maybe even the form player.

But if he's not, the Blue's loss will be our gain.

It looks like he has to actively take each game personally or as a challenge.

After 2 flat games and criticism he came out with a blinder against the roosters to prove a point. He came out against the sharks with a point to prove against talakai. Maybe the key with managing katoni is making it personal

I happen to know he gets riled up if you spell his name wrong.

I reckon he's born for origin, I feel sorry for whoever defends him if he is picked. Surely there's a spot there with Latrell injured.

In the squad, at the very least. We'll have to soldier on without Kotoni and Payne. That'll be a challenge. Moreso if Capewell makes the grade. He might miss out on current form, but the same could be said for Fifita.

Last two weeks, Capes has stepped up, he’ll be there as we don’t have the depth NSW does and Luke is versatile.

I really wouldn’t be surprised to see Cobbo named either just quietly. He’ll go well if so too.

Almost every player that completes an origin serious improves their game. Just being in camp with another 20 odd blokes who are all at the top of their game is such a learning experience.

This is why i want Staggs picked for origin, but I hope Freddy decides on a last minute change and does not pick him in the 17.

It will make him even hungrier to prove a point when he comes back to us.

I don’t want him to play origin because I go for Queensland and want him in a Broncos jersey instead. He’s good enough though, of that there’s no doubt.
Origin would be great for him, if he dominates there he takes that confidence back to club land. Just being in camp around elite players can do wonders for him.

Personally don't care much for origin, give me the Broncos any day. I'll care about origin more when they fix the schedule so it stops ruining every year with 6 weeks of disrupted club games.

He could get spanked by Holmes again

Seeing as everyone is getting praise, I'll counteract it with some criticism.

Jordan Riki hasn't been good this year, at all.

When he came back from injury last year he was absolutely immense, making 40 tackles per game, busting tackles, scoring tries, setting them up... this year he's just been a plodder. No idea what's happened to him.

He's playing with busted rib-cartilage.
