POST GAME [Round 8, 2022] Broncos vs Sharks

There was a passage of play where I think Reynolds, TMM and Haas threw the ball around. The last pass from Haas to Reynolds did not stick if I recall correctly.

That was real nice to watch and would have been a great try if it stuck.
Can anyone remember when that happened?

Was it Kennedy rather than Hass, throwing a flick pass? Would have been magical if Reynolds held onto it.

Let's hope Mam lifts in ISC.
Yeah he needs to improve but I think his last 2 weeks have been better. The first grade team needs to sort their shut out first too. But Niu isn’t back for 6-8 rounds so it could all fall into place by then.

I think that was another incident. But not too sure now. Might have to watch the replay.

Arey is looking the most creative I’ve seen him in a while, he’s coming up with some real cheeky plays and it’s getting the defensive to think twice about rushing him.

Agree totally......Reynolds is surprising me. I didn't really see some of this form at the Bunnies (at least of the last few years)

Great stuff !!

Thing is though is the team will struggle big time when he's not there.

This was so obvious when he was not there for Souths. They were just a shadow of the team when he was there and totally bereft of any ball-playing flair.

I'll admit we've had worst games under Klein (that game against Manly a few years ago where Darius Boyd had a try disallowed then then DCE scores an almost identical one at the other end which is allowed and then Manly got 10 penalties in a row).

That charge down call near the end to hand the ball back to the Sharks was a joke and some of the 6 agains and penalties that both teams received were just not required.

With Klein I always seem to feel that nearly every 50/50 call with him seems to go against the Broncos.
Totally agree. I think though our win rate with Klein is pretty high. I may need to be checked on that but if my memory serves me correct we more than likely win with him.

Never mind Kotoni playing himself into Origin contention, so has Reynolds. Anything happens to Nathan Cleary, say he gets injured or banned for acne enhancing drugs, Adam has to be next in line. Losing Kotoni, Payne and Adam to NSW and Rhys to QLD would really **** us.

That would happen with most teams though with an elite halfback except probably Melbourne and Penrith.

No prizes there.

But here's a smokey: will Selwyn? Might take a couple of injuries, but they happen.
No prizes? He's been shit until the last 2 games whilst his competition has been tearing it up all season.

The blues still have Turbo, Crichton, Mitchell (Injury), Talakai competing for 2 spots...without Staggs in the mix. I think his best shot is the first game, because once Latrell is back, who do you leave out? I certainly don't think he's a lock quite yet.

Jeez the blues backline is packed with talent.

Re Cobbo, Feldt and Coates are both playing quite well, so I don't see Cobbo getting a game unless they stink the bed or get injured. He is probably one of the next cabs off the rank though.

How refreshing is it to have a winger who stays on his wing? Even in Melbourne Coates is runshing up and in, he would have allowed the first try the other night to Cosi if he didn’t drop the ball. Coates is a talent no doubt, but Cobbo’s defence is a level above.

Take any absolute gun game manager out of a team and they sub par. I suppose that’s where having a strong system/ structure can cope like panthers, storm can when missing key players.

What about Flegs ?
He`s gonna be hitting form over the next month .

Selwyn is a tough bugger .

Seeing as everyone is getting praise, I'll counteract it with some criticism.

Jordan Riki hasn't been good this year, at all.

When he came back from injury last year he was absolutely immense, making 40 tackles per game, busting tackles, scoring tries, setting them up... this year he's just been a plodder. No idea what's happened to him.
He's always first with post try congratulations.

Something I think is interesting that is lost a bit in the discussion about playing the full 80. Traditionally, Broncos are a second half team. Very often, even in big games, we would trail at the half and look very ordinary, and then come out and blow teams away in the second half. It seems to be a bit ingrained in our DNA and us clawing that back slowly is a very good sign.
