I'm just relieved he didn't receive a harsher penalty. All this talk about four-five weeks had me spooked.
One week is fair enough, especially with his history of hitting players off without the ball.
Actually thought Thaiday was lucky to get away with his late hit on Burgess.
22:50 for anyone looking for it, Thaiday hits Burgess around the same time Blair hit Reynolds. It really hurt Burgess as well - he was down for the rest of Souths set and took awhile to get into their defensive line.
As for Reynolds, he didn't hurt his jaw in that tackle. It was actually an earlier incident involving Parker and McGuire at around 19:50. McGuire nailed Reynolds in a great tackle and Parker looked to have hit Reynolds high in an effort to rap him up. Reynolds stayed down to draw attention to it but Maxwell told him to play it. Reynolds eventually got up and did so but his jaw seemed to be giving him some discomfort.
I will say what goes around comes around for Reynolds. In the first half, Milford put through a grubber for the corner - Thaiday was chasing it but was tackled off the ball by Reynolds. No penalty and no mention from the 9 commentary team - the same team that complained Souths only received one penalty when in fact it was two. I couldn't understand where some people were coming from on how hard done by Souths were until I caught Gus whinging about the game. Once again his misinformation is influencing far too many people into spreading lies.
