[Rumour] The Hunt for Karmichael's return to Broncos.

Greg Inglis was signed and sealed, that didn't work out either really. Maybe he got pissed off at something the club did and decided to not take the offer? Maybe the club had a change of heart and thought he wasn't worth the money.

Andrew Gee up to his old tricks again....?

tbh he's probably got an offer from the Avondale Ramblers that's too good to refuse, so will spurn both codes.

Possibly, but in this case I wouldn't be disappointed. Hunt is a very good player but I don't see a spot for him once we get Milford.

Tbh I can't see him coming this year, he's on a million over there, he wouldn't get anywhere near that coming back to us this year I reckon. I don't think the club will make him our highest paid player on his first year back.

I'd rather we put that money towards DCE or possibly Smith, even possibly signing Milford longer term, I'd hate for him to leave after two years like Folau did.

Koch seems to have backtracked on his "sign within two weeks" scenario:

THE Broncos are facing a fight with the AFL's Gold Coast Suns for the services of Karmichael Hunt -- and it is a battle the Brisbane NRL club cannot afford to lose.

The Weekend Australian reported on Saturday that the Broncos were set to announce they had re-signed Hunt.

However, the Suns appear set to dig in their heels over the 27-year-old's future. He still has another year left on his AFL deal.

As has been the case since the rumours about Hunt returning to the NRL surfaced almost two months ago, the respective parties involved remained largely quiet over the weekend

The Suns released a statement from an unnamed club spokesperson playing down the suggestion Hunt's frustrating 2013 season was set to be his last as an AFL player.

"Karmichael is contracted to the Gold Coast Suns for the 2014 season. At this point his pure focus, and that of the coaches, is on working really hard during pre-season to prepare himself for next year," the spokesperson said.

"Karmichael had an injury-interrupted season in 2013 and we are excited about the role he can play for the team next year with a full pre-season under his belt."

While the recruitment of Ben Barba, Martin Kennedy and Daniel Vidot were seen as helping address some of the major issues the Broncos encountered during their disastrous 2013 campaign, the key to the club's revival lay in its plans for a new-look halves combination.

Big things were expected after the unseemly manner in which veterans Peter Wallace and Scott Prince were forced out of the club.

It now appears the two men coach Anthony Griffin had in mind for the Broncos six and seven jerseys were Hunt and Raiders youngster Anthony Milford. While Milford will link with Brisbane in 2015, attempts to secure him earlier through a contractual loophole failed.

Now it seems their secret behind-the-scenes play for Hunt, who still has a year to run on his deal with the Suns, could be headed down a similar path.

Utility Ben Hunt is the only other player on Brisbane's books with any NRL experience at either halfback or five-eighth.

Meh, who fucking knows. There must be some truth in the rumour that K wants to play Rugby League again.

Money aside, playing as part of a Suns side that is very unlikely, for the rest of K's best years, to do anything but get the "encouragement award" in the AFL is hardly a great career incentive.

Return to the Broncos, a perennial rugby league powerhouse, you can re-write your story, be the hero, prove the haters wrong, re-build the entertainers with Milford, Barba, Ben Hunt and Justin Hodges.

But my guess is the gap between AFL $ and Broncos $ will be too far to justify the jump.

But my guess is the gap between AFL $ and Broncos $ will be too far to justify the jump.

but 2015 will be a different story IMO ... The AFL will have got all the publicity they can out of him, now if he re-signs for 2015 and beyond, he likely wont get the massive AFL top up, and the Suns will have to include all he wage on the salary cap. meaning he wont get anywhere near the million a season he is on ATM, he would be lucky to get 300k.

I think Hunt (or at least his manager) would know this and may be the reason he is looking to return to the NRL in 2014 in case he can't find an offer for 2015

Really? Dude, he's at their pre-season camp, he's had months to defect. He's preparing for 2014.

It sounds much more like the usual "Broncos as leverage" caper.

Exactly unless he is a true grub and using the club for a trip to America. Sounds to be leverage for a contract extension at the suns.

K.H. would be a great get back at the Broncos for next year or certainly 2015 - he like Izzy will have to pump some weights to get his bulk back again but and I think he would make an ideal centre to take over from Hodges when he hangs up the boots or punt Jack my boy Reed to the Qld Cup and don't tell me he would not be better than Reed please.

I'm blown away by how many people think yow yeh is going to be as good as he was before and are naming him in their predicted sides ahead of the likes of reed and vidot

Maybe because jharal has more talent in his busted ankle bone than vidot has in his entire body. Nothing wrong with showing a bit of faith in a bloke who loves and would do anything for our club. I think he's done more than enough to earn a crack at first grade. If he isn't up to standard, so be it, send him to q cup but I don't see where negativity and writing him off before he's had a crack will do any good whatsoever
