NEWS Staggs in strife again

The NRL's Committee for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (aka Integrity Unit) is shit sifting Kotoni Stagg's sauced up antics at the Eatons Hill Hotel over Easter. They have requested CCTV footage hoping to indentify a woman who can help them stitch up Kotoni.

The story currently circulating alleges the NSWelshman was on the turps with his mates before heading to the Eatons Hill Hotel in search of some action. All fine until just before 3am when the Broncos centre mustered the courage to make his move on one of a gaggle of women. Staggs tried his signature move of extending his arm around her but this time it didn't work. The lady nightowl allegedly didn't care for Stagg's advance and asked him to keep his mitts to himself. Bouncers intervened and promptly turfed the highly eligible bachelor out on his ear. And that was the end of that. Until the NRL got wind of it.

So now Kotoni has run afoul of the code's moral guardians 3 times in 12 months. Not a good look for the player holding the entire club to ransom over his contract.

Top NRL Mullah Andrew Abdo said this of his last incident back in February:

“We have issued him with a $10,000 fine and most importantly, he has to complete an education course and he has to meet with me personally and the head of integrity, together with the club CEO, before he is permitted to play again. We want him to understand the impact of his words on people and the responsibility that players have to the community. His language is utterly unacceptable but this is about making sure he understands the impact of that and actually changes."

Education

“There are three components - the fine, the education course and making sure he sits down with us. Getting them to meet with me is not the silver bullet, but I want to explain to them the impact this has on their personal brand, on the club brand and on the game’s brand and then there are two ways they can go from there."

“This is important in relation to Kotoni which is why we want to meet with him before he returns to the field.”

The problem I see, and it's one that I don't have a solution for, is that for all we know Staggs tries this on all the time and because of his profile he often succeeds. He's learned that not only is it acceptable, it's more often than not successful. "Education" about respecting women and keeping yourself out of trouble, by stiffs in a suit standing next to expensive solicitors writing down notes, is not going to over-ride that.

Not making excuses for him, as most will find I am quite vocally against people acting like he did. But it is easy to see how someone gets conditioned to think it's okay.

Could it be that she didn’t like the way he kept looking at her toes and then suddenly he was standing there breathing really heavy on her big toe and just had a little grope of it?

I wouldn't say I'm naive and I've been to some right dives, but I've never come across blokes doing what a lot of these footy players are doing.
I definitely have. The more concerning thing for me is people think that the fact it occurs fairly regularly makes it okay?

If I saw a guy who looks like a massive gronk wrap his arm around my misses/sister/cousin/friend whatever. I would be very unhappy about that, and I hope most people on here would be too.

Harmless flirting is approaching someone and saying “hey ladies, how’s your night going?” and if they aren’t interested they can tell you to move on. What gives anyone the right to put their hands on someone, regardless of gender?

I’ve worked at clubs when I was younger and have been groped by every demographic you can imagine, it was never okay with me. Don’t put your hands on someone unless you know they’re cool with it. It’s borderline assault but even in the simplest sense is entitled dickhead behaviour.

They're footy players, have you ever gone out with them or hung out with some.
Some of the shit I've seen and heard is fucking disturbing and some of you lot are claiming putting their arm around someone is bad , **** i swear some people live under rocks.
Just because you have certain veiws dosen't mean everyone should abide by them.
Yep, been out regularly with quite a few of them and never really seen any of them do anything out of order tbh. I know there are ones that do dumb stuff and worse, but I haven't seen it amongst the blokes I know.

We have people going on saying he just put his arm around her, we actually don't know if that's the case or not yet so we can't really defend or condemn him based on what's currently in the media. Either way, you can't compare a footballer to just an unknown bloke out on the piss because your everyday bloke doesn't attract the same attention and isn't going to get the media coverage. If Staggs or Haas do the wrong thing, they bring the club into the equation as well. It's not just as simple as saying loads of blokes do it because if me or you did it and got kicked out of a bar, we aren't going to end up as a headline in a newspaper.

Interesting how people view the sex tape incident as a black mark against Staggs.
That was a massive invasion of his privacy , end of story.
Tis true but I don't really feel sorry for him either. Taking videos of yourself sucking toes, you kinda expect it to get shared otherwise why take the video?

It's definitely not objectively wrong or anything but if you agree to be recorded while doing your thing with random skanks you met the night before you can't really cry if it becomes public later.

Good for you your 1 out of a million, congratulations
Oh, I don't think he's that rare. One in a raffle maybe😂

Honestly, I absolutely have never placed an arm on a strangers shoulder nor touched them inappropriately even when on the piss. I was taught it's a violation when done without consent. I have witnessed heaps of pretty shit approaches but you just don't go throwing your arms around strangers...unless it's Pamplona and you're making sure the guy in front becomes the guy behind!!

Also on the arms around strangers thing. It's funny when you see photos of guys who know they can't touch, so do the old hover hand.

I'm not saying that he doesn't need to pull his head in but learning the life of a well known footy player can't be easy in this day and age.
Back in the day most of the players I knew and got told about was a major focus on drugs and women, be it married or not it's what they did. Professional sports is a breeding ground for bad behavior in all countries , some of the stories you'd hear from the PL players in the UK were crazy.

Sorry to say Kimlo but that is a double standard. If that was a guy releasing a video you would have the opposite opinion.

I know it's technically victim blaming, and Staggs did nothing morally wrong but I don't feel sorry for any of those chicks either that have their "sex" tapes released. Getting recorded by dumb NRL players while doing the deed you may as well count the days until it becomes public.

I don't hold it against him as a red flag (other than being dumb).
