State of Origin - Game 3 - Post Match Discussion

Inglis played on with a torn PCL, and is now out for 4-8 weeks.

Yep so is being reported. Slater tweeted this photo. Hope it isn't as bad as we do have a few tough rounds to end the year. Want that run into the finals.

I thought Gillett and T'eo had pretty minimal impact tbh.. Imagine if we had Hannant and McGuire instead.

8. Scott
10. Hannant
11. Myles
12. Thaiday
13. Parker

14. Cherry-Evans
15. McGuire
16. Papalli
17. McQueen

For next year, imo.

Hodges is boss.

Cronk should be dropped next year. He is consistently bad at kicking, then he does a brilliant one, and follows it up with another 5 bad ones.

On the kicking game, i thought Smith didn't kick enough, and when he did, they were pretty poor.

Cronk went ok IMO

Agree with Nashy re Cronks kicking, it was mostly shit compared to his usual level. We could have smashed NSW with a half decent kicking game last night.

I hate those shallow cross field kicks inside 30 mtrs, they set you up for a potential run away.

How would you like to be the owner of the security company in charge last night trying to explain how your 40 odd guys around the field managed to let that fat tub slip past.

I initially hit reply to respond negatively - but if he and Pearce swapped and the latter had the benefit of playing second fiddle to Thurston, they probably are equal.

That was one of the best Origins I've seen in a while.

Here's a theory: the Gallen no punch rule has increased the intensity of the contest.

Those early fights of the past used to be a release valve. Without it, I thought the first half was insane and prolonged intensity.

Just like the referees have done numerous times through the series they were probably frozen into inaction because of the occasion.

Criticisms of Gillett and Papalii IMO are unwarranted. They did what they were sent out to do with the time they were given, and the limited use of the ball the play makers gave them.

I thought they both were excellent at what they did. For mine, it was more a game plan issue than anything else.

Initially, I thought Cronk was ordinary, until I saw quite a few nice touches from him, and I was actually surprised the positive difference DCE made. Next year maybe DCE instead of Cronk

Thurston's defence on Lewis was first class and shot Daley's plan to bits

I thought Myles was poor until I read he was injured in which case I don't understand why he was there. I also reckon GI is totally wasted in the centres. If Slater plays next year, he should play wing and share the job with Inglis.

If Gallen and Hayne played, and with Myles having little impact, I wouldn't be so sure we would have won tbh (Well, if Hayne played, the Blues would have had 2 Hayne's on field anyway).

As they say in drama: Exeunt Pearce and Maloney. What a pair of nuffies. If they had Adam Reynolds/Sutton, or Reynolds/Carney, along with Gallen and Hayne (1) NSW would have been far more dangerous against the Maroons whose overall game was super quality for say 30 out of the 80, and the rest compensated for by flashes of brilliance and stunning one-on-one defence, together with continual **** ups by NSW

I mean the dropped balls by Dugan and Jennings with almost certain tries in front of them was unforgivable if I were a Blues supporter

To be fair, Cronk doesn't even have to kick that well because the NSW halves suck, even at his shit level he's playing just as good as Pearce. Seriously, Farah has to overplay his hand because their halves are huge numpties who seem to be as creative as Wallace and Prince

Amazing game! From start to finish I was just captivated and couldn’t look away, for QLD to win the match against the overwhelming home crowd and a lob sided penalty count was a feat in itself and shouldn’t be overlooked. 8 in a row will probably never be repeated again so I’m extremely proud of that, my only gripe is that the longer QLD continue their winning streak the worse the celebration will be when NSW finally win one ;) , I predict Gus will cry like a baby and kiss Sterlo on the mouth.

Another point I’d like to make is that by not having a “punch-up” was anything taken away from the game? I don’t think so. I don’t particularly have a problem with any fisticuffs in Rugby League but after last night I’m happy if they never happen again, IMO it’s just too risky to be sent off and half the time the Ref’s target the wrong players.

For anyone impressed by Greg Bird’s theatrical display last night should click on the link below, it features quotes from the man himself prior to Game I last year. What a nob!
