T20 World Cup Discussion

Maybe he just doesn't want to get involved in politics?
i mean this statement from him is an act of politics, i get the SA cricket board is a ridiculous shambles but this is a very sensitive and bold stance to take

The whole situation is dumb. SA board should've had a unified stance and De Kock should have a better excuse than "I only kneel for God" (if he was one of they players who said that).

They should've been in a position of showing support for their kneeling team mates in some way. And if they couldn't do that then should've been given the arse before the first game.

If he was forced to take a knee, its meaningless if he does it.

Taking a knee doesn't really help anybody actually. And it's something he should have the choice to do, whether he wants to take a knee.

The South African board is stuffed anyway, not to mention south African sports, it's actually racist to whites forcing the team to have a minimum of 6 black players, where's the equality in that. It's mean you don't get picked up on your merits, rather your skin colour.

How do you know Quinton isn't supporting his kneeling teammates in this way, it doesn't say he agrees with racism but rather he doesn't want to be forced into something

Good on him. Forcing cricketers to bend the knee won't fix racism. The fact his black captain has come out to support him shows his character.

Take the knee.
Now you know what I want you to do
And it ain't praying De Kock

Past tragedies come back to haunt Quintin.

That was a pretty strong win.

Sri Lanka had all the momentum coming out of the power play, Zampa came on to bowl and completely halted their momentum and picked up a few wickets.

Then our top order finally were able to deliver with the bat, comprehensive win after what can only be described as a few scratchy performances in the warm ups and then against South Africa. Need to be better again to beat England.

Quinton de Kock has opted out of today's game as he does not wish to take a knee in support of Black Lives Matter as per SA board directive. Weird situation.

If he didn't walk into the room channelling his inner Johnny Abruzzi from Prison Break, I will be very disappointed

"I kneel only to god and I don't see him here".. before going down in a blaze of glory

What was that SL batsman thinking by reviewing his edge? It was clear live he nicked it.

Did you guys see that side by side slow mo comparison of Zampa’s leggie and googly? You could barely pick it on slow mo, no wonder he is so deceptive.

You can barely see the difference to his leggie and googly most of the time, no surprise his action for each ball is similar

The only issue is, Sri Lanka suck.

Hopefully Pakistan can get a win, got them at a tasty $11 before the start of the tourney.

I'm guessing you don't watch much cricket? His googly rips more than his leggie, it is obvious how much it goes the other way.

Watched and played a lot of cricket. His googly rips more than his leggie because his leggie doesn't turn, basically ever. He has improved in the last 18 months or so, but he was dead set average for a long, long time.

You don't need a big, ripping legbreak in T20, I mean seriously, name any big ripping leg break bowler currently in T20. They are all skiddy and the successful ones have a deceptive googly, this is Zampa to a T.

Guys like Khan and Ur Rahman spin the ball a lot, and they are far superior to Zampa. I also didn't say you needed to spin the ball a long way to be successful.

Mujeeb is a finger spinner, basic physics will tell you he won't spin it as much as a wrist spinner. Unless he is bowling it way slower through the air.

Zampa has been our best white ball spinner for a long time now

Needs to lower his release point and come around the ball if he wants to get more side spin . ala SK Warne .
Because his arm is high its just the hand that changes for the wrongun . Bowls more top spinners than legies . But he is very effective in limited overs matches .

And he still spins it more than a wrist spinner, I was simply naming better spinners who also spin it more, and they also have more than the 2 balls Zampa has in his arsenal, if I was trying to just name a big spinner of the ball I would have said Kuldeep.

Didn't realise Zampa was a protected species in these parts where only positive things can be said about him.

And I think he has only been the best white ball spinner for the last year or so, not a long time.
