Tardy Blues brush bushfire kids

Just pointing out that you can't make an excuse for one situation, then use a very similar situation to prove your point.

I'm not really arguing with you about league in NSW. I don't think it's as strong as it should be but I also don't think it's dying.

So, South Sydney vs Melbourne attracted just over 15000 people in Perth on Saturday night.

Western Rabbitohs has a ring to it.

Grand Final sold out in a few days. Saints Vs Broncos will be sold out by Friday night. Wests Vs Parra is expecting a crowd of over 30,000.

Rugby League in NSW is dying.

Yep, those Bulldogs and Dragons fans love buying their Grand Final tickets in advance. If one or both miss the grand final you watch how many THOUSANDS of tickets get put up for sale.

Reminds me of 2006, in fact, identical to 2006.

See the difference is that if the game was in Brisbane, and the stadium held 150000 people, it'd still sell out. And whether they're Broncos fans, or Titans fans, or Cowboys fans, even if none of their teams made it, they'd still go.

If no Sydney team makes the Grand Final this year (which seems unlikely to happen), expect < 70000 people there on Grand Final day.

Well clearly a lot of Storm and Broncos fans snapped up the THOUSANDS of Dragons and Bulldogs fans tickets that appeared on eBay 5 minutes after they lost their preliminary finals in 2006.

Seriously, you don't get it. Sydney people will go if their team is there. They buy tickets in advance if they think their team will be there. Soon as they're not, sell.

If it was in Brisbane with a stadium the size of Stadium Australia it could be between Melbourne and Souths, two teams nobody gives a **** about, and it would sell out and every seat taken.

Then why's it so surprising that the grand final has sold out what 4 weeks after going on sale? The afl grand final sells out in minutes. Origin in brisbane sells out in minutes. Still takes sydney a month to sell out a grand final?

League isn't dying in new south wales. It's dead.

Coxy - just to let you know the difference between Sydney and New South Wales. I feel that you are lumping in all the good Novocastrians, Wollongongongongans, and country folk with the apathetic Sydneysiders. That's like me saying that the Gold Coast, which I know is your favourite city, and it's residents, are representative of all Queensland.

To assist you in differentiating between the city of Sydney and NSW as a whole, here is a diagram.

Areas marked in shades of blue are not shitholes.

That can't be right. Most of the state is marked in shades of blue. We all know all of NSW is a shithole.

It certainly is correct. Areas marked in blue are relatively free of stabbings. And while Coxy and the like can throw around as many statistics about league in Sydney and the NRL, the predicament of the game in Sydney is much different to that of the game in the country.

Wow! Thanks for clarifying! Can't believe I didn't understand that the first time around. Since you have missed what I was saying, I will return the favour and explain it to you.
NSW is more than just Sydney.
So, when Coxy says 'Rugby league is dying in NSW', and discusses the fortunes of the NRL sides, what he really means is, 'Rugby league is dying in Sydney'.
RL outside of Sydney is as strong as ever in terms of support. The only thing holding it back - and this has been a problem for years - is that Newcastle and Wollongong are part of the Country Rugby League, and are sucking all the CRL money out of the real country areas.

Rugby league ain't dying in the hunter [icon_wink And not everyone supports the knights either! At the two schools I work at it's the only sport the kids talk about
